Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPrepare for a long walk with luggages uphill on an uneven medieval bourg road. The receptionist made me wait 10 minutes because she had to finish some paperwork she was doing before she checked me in. The room was super tiny. The bed had only one pillow and was hard as a rock and uneven (so I was constantly rolling on one side).
The location is absolutely stunning! Good breakfast. BONUS: the local grocery da Graziella is fantastic!

GermanySome pieces of furniture e.g. chairs, cabinet... could (and should) be easily repaired for very small cost. On the other hand, a perfectly fit and designed bathroom. Otherwise, everything was great: a magic location far away from the hustle of the world.

SerbiaHotel is not hotel, it's bunch of apartments inside the village. The building they show you here on the pics is just a reception.Just the owner speakes some English. When they take photos of your passport he gives you a map of your apartment.Map is useless if you are there for the first time, and it has photo of your doors, that's hilarious because the village is full of similar doors. For example our door was almost hidden in some passage. We drove 12 hours and had to walk with 2 bags, and 2 kids to find it wit the useless map, even got lost for a bit.We entered soaked in sweat. We didn't knew,as nobody told us,that you need reservation for dinner,al the restaurants were full,so we stayed hungry!!!You don't have parking there, everything is full,we were lucky to find after more than 40 minutes waiting. But they can give you garage if you book it in advance,15 e.They don't answer to your emails,so don't bother.Room was average and smaller, not worth the money,2 marriage beds in one room, smaller bathtub, and we were separated from other apartment with folding screen. If you book with breakfast, you don't have buffet, when you sit you'll be asked salty or sweet breakfast and that's all.We took sweet and you have croissant, some smaller pieces of various sponge cakes, juice and coffee. You'll have to pick time for breakfast. When you leave the place there is no one on the reception,it was closed. You leave the keys in mailbox,no one told us that.If you call they don't speak English, and promise the owner, that speaks it,will come fast..........
Old vilage is very beautiful.Full of narrow streets, the Vitorio Emanuele square is wonderful, very alive, with 2 restaurants, kids playing, young people chatting and elderly people seating around and watching. And you have few more restaurants around the village, and basically thats all.Fairy tail village with good idea,it could be very interesting and adventurous with all the thing with maps, just if they have more staff or if they work better.

United KingdomIt can be tricky to find your room in this up and down medieval village but apparently a new app system will resolve this. Breakfast could be improved by real cappuccino. These are minor quibbles re what is a special place and recommended in all seasons.
It is an intriguing concept and place and run by a charming couple who did everything they could to be helpful. The room was mysterious and old-fashioned in a good way while Apricale is a charming village that has been well restored and is well run by a good mayor.

FranceThe hotel has rooms spread across the village, which is great but with no access by car or any other form of transportation apart by foot in very steep narrow little paved streets (beautiful I must say) where you cannot even roll the luggage. And our room was about 15minutes walk uphill. So travelling as a single parent with 2 little children I had to carry all our luggage on my own as no staff member even offered the slightest help. Then when we finally found the room, it was poorly decorated, gloomy with 0 natural light nor any form of view or outdoor area and looked nothing like any of the pictures provided when making the booking which showed beautiful balconies overlooking the mountains. The beds were very uncomfortable (the little additional bed for my son was even rocking and not stable at all) with not a real queen size mattress but 2 single bed mattresses over a queen size bed frame and limited pillows and covers. Because of the absence of natural light or sun exposure the room was freezing cold with no heating on at all. Breakfast buffet was poor with barely any choice (not even eggs & toasts or fresh orange juice). Overall very disappointing experience and deceiving pictures/advertising. We could see all over the village some posters with pictures of beautiful rooms with romantic settings, balconies etc well this is very far from what we got. It was only for 1 night stay so I did not bother to complain on the spot but if I would have stayed longer, I would have refused that room and request for another one or a refund. We’re easy going and simple people but this was beyond unacceptable and certainly not good value for money.
Honestly, nothing except the location as the village of Apricale is beautiful.

SwitzerlandThe stay was wonderful and the staff very thoughtful to us. The bad experience we had was trying to have dinner at the Restaurant Da Baci' where the manager rudely said we should go to another restaurant because the kitchen was closed ( we were there before 9:30 pm ). They were still serving lots of tables. We went to the other restaurant in front, A Ciassa, the guy said he could only serve us some lasagna. We sat down but the waiters from the kitchen came serving others whole other meals. We could not understand why we were having a different treatment. Probably because we're a gay couple. Never mind. And last thing... the lasagna at the last place was horrible.
The village is so inviting and charming. It felt like traveling back in time. Lovely! Tip... you have to try the Restaurant Mari & Monti. Amazing food and such a pleasant reception.

GreeceThe room was extremely noisy and the bathroom's plumbing was broken. When the air conditioning from nearby rooms was running it sounded as the external unit was inside our room. There was even vibration from it. As a result we couldn't get any sleep. The other unpleasant surprise was the plumbing in the bathroom, the shower was broken. There was a lever that controls from which part of the shower column the water will pour out that didn't work and most of the times the water (when there was any) was coming out of a broken pipe at feet level. The breakfast was mediocre. It was definitely overpriced, very expensive for what it was and the trouble we had.
The location was alright and the staff very friendly.
