Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo bar or restaurant available in the evening, as a lone female, I didn't want to go out. I fully expected a 4 star Hotel to have a full range of facilities available. Room was far too warm and I couldn't work the thermostat. No instructions. As my room overlooked the reception area, it was quite noisy when people returned in the evening.
Clean and elegant with friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent.

United Statesthe room furniture need upkeep, possibly replacement. Bed could do without the four poster paraphernalia. Could do with a coffee machine in the room for early morning departures. Given that it rains suddenly and the front of the entrance gets a river of water, hotel could plan for a few planks for guests not to get ankle deep in water- after which drying shoes becomes a huge problem!
location, architecture/decor of the building/house, room size, reception and staff. the bar and the bar keep Antonio was wonderful.

Italystyle at the cost of functionality: the sleek bathroom lacked towel rails and the two small hooks were placed at a height fit for a basketball player as was the hairdryer. I had to stand on a chair to hang my clothes in the wardrobe! The switch to lower the blind was behind impractical bedside tables with oversized lamps and useless spaces.
great location, friendly and helpful staff. lovely old aristocratic house sympathetically restored.

RomaniaIt is unacceptable that in a 4-star hotel, for 7 days, the bed linen is not changed. There were also single-use glasses in the room, and if you washed them and threw them in the trash, they were not replaced. There were no toiletries in the bathroom, except shower gel. In a word, the hotel does not meet the requirements of a 4-star hotel.

PolandThe hotel is clean, rooms are spacious with high ceilings, staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is tasty with a wide selection of dishes. Also, the hotel is great located - within 5 mins walking distance to the main street Via Etnea and within 15 minutes walking distance to the railway station from where you can catch a train to other cities - Siracusa, Messina, Taormina etc. Really recommend this hotel.

United KingdomThe room on our first night was poor. It had little light, no mobile phone signal and terrible wi-fi service. This was resolved the following morning by a room change. Warning - don’t accept room 021 !
The manager was very good at resolving a problem with our room. On our return to Catania we decided to stay here again. It is a well located hotel for eating and touring.

CanadaThe room was very small and we could barely fit our two carry on bags No drawers to put your clothes away and as a smaller person I had to get up on a chair to hang up my clothes in the closet
The breakfast and staff were fantastic, they have a really nice terrace to enjoy in the warmer weather The location when you walk out the doors and turn left is the San Berillo district with great bars and restaurants. If you turn right your in a seedy small red light district but we never felt unsafe.

PolandThe location of Romano House is great! It's close to the center of town with its sights and shopping streets. There is also a very cool, somewhat hidden gem art district just around the corner. The breakfast was very delicious and had lots of options. We really enjoyed the local Granita they served for breakfast. The rooms were spacious, very clean and quiet.

United StatesWe barely had WiFi reception (as well as cellular reception, but that's no fault of the hotel) in our room. We told the staff about it but it wasn't amended during our stay.
The location is wonderful, very close to the city center and Catania's must-see attractions. Lots of great local restaurants nearby, a supermarket and pharmacies. The room itself was good, pretty spacious and quiet, It felt a bit old though, and some of the furniture should undergo maintenance.

United StatesCatania was the dirtiest, most chaotic city I have seen in my twenty years of European travel. if you are compelled to go there, Romano House is a wonderful escape and haven.
This was architecturally significant structure, beautifully redesigned, friendly staff, a real treat to experience. Our room was a former sitting room in an 18th century palazzo, 15 foot ceilings, with original plaster cartouches of the founding family. Love the clean, modern look of the renovated structure.

IsraelThe street is a little dark, in the edge of the center. We had to take a flight early in the morning but the officer in the reception tried to convince us to take a taxi that arrives the airport only one hour before the flight. Luckily we insisted on arriving the airport earlier, but if we hadn't we would have missed our flight.
Breakfast was good location is pretty central staff is nice and helpful most of the time. Large and clean room.
