Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThe room was a bit "old-fashioned". I wish I had a little more as my wife and I had many electronic devices. And I wanted facility to make hot water in the room.
The staff of the hotel was supportive and friendly without any language difficulty (English). Location of the hotel is good, as it's in the center of the city, lots of things were within a walking distance.

IrelandDon't adventure yourself in the wrong direction because the area to the north and east of the hotel is a bit rough with prostitution happening at night, but avoidable easily. No fridge in the room. A/C doesn't go below 22°C, it was ok(-ish) for May but during the summer must be horrible. The breakfast is just ok, don't try the scrambled eggs and bacon, they were not nice at all and always cold because the burner under the tray is tiny
The room we were upgraded to was beautiful with high decorated ceilings. The location is convenient because it's just outside the city centre and the limited traffic zone ZTL, with a cheap parking nearby. Also a few nice restaurants and bars nearby. Teatro Massimo Bellini 5 min away, Cattedrale di Sant'Agata 8 min away. Staff are very friendly.

United KingdomIt is in an up and coming area but there are still some rather run down areas if you turn right when exiting the hotel.
Close to the centre so able to get about easily and see all the sites. The staff were very friendly - especially Antonio behind the bar.

United KingdomIt is near metro and bus stops from airport shuttle. It might be helpful to have map on website highlighting the best route to the hotel. This is a small thing, I had such a warm welcome on arrival that the usual disorientation in a new city was overcome quickly. Whilst staying the staff team were amazingly helpful with directions. The hotel city map was particularly useful.
The staff where very welcoming and helped with recommendations of what to see. Very helpful with advice about onward travel. Prepared a lovely light lunch at the bar / restaurant area on my day of departure when I was short of time awaiting a taxi. Great breakfast with a wide range of everything and I was made pancakes on request. Very friendly and relaxed.

United StatesOn edge of red light district. Turn left when you go out towards Etna street and you’ll be fine.
Comfortable room facing inner courtyard made it very quiet. Some air conditioning but as all electrical systems switch off when you take out the key it gets a bit stuffy when you’re out for the day. Great breakfast.

AustraliaParts of the hotel would benefit from some renovations.
The great staff made the stay so much more enjoyable. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a lot of tips about sightseeing and helped with a trip to Mount Etna. We used the bar a lot too - many thanks to Antonio who was very friendly and made the happy hour so worthwhile. We also liked the location as it was close to the metro station, lots of restaurants and the sites we wanted to visit.

United KingdomThe hotel Wifi signal kept falling off.
The location is minutes walk from the historic area of Catania and Stesicoro station on the metro. At the same time it is less than 15 mins walk from the main railway station. My room was very quiet and it was cleaned every day. Breakfast was extensive with cereal, fresh fruit, various breads, meat and pastries. I never left hungry ! The staff were friendly and helpful when I wanted information about the town.

United KingdomTwo negatives about the room. Be warned that (in our case) 3 out of the 4 available electrical sockets were at floor level under a long writing desk; to access them ,kneel or squat and then realise that you need a torch because you’re in your own light….. The towels, whilst clean and replaced promptly, were showing signs of wear and age, and reminded me of visiting elderly relatives intent on exercising financial restraint.
We had a large airy room, with a high ceiling adorned with decorative plaster work. Ample space, but sadly only one chair where there was space for two.Hotel quiet overall. Reception staff friendly and helpful. An easy walk to central streets for shopping , sightseeing and restaurants.

ItalyWhile the street outside was a tad lively, it was a small price to pay for being in the vibrant heart of the city center.
Nice hotel, not far from the Courthouse (where I needed to be). Marco, the barman, was very friendly and opened the hotel bar even though he had just closed it, to serve me with a glass of wine. My room boasted a soaring ceiling adorned with exquisite décor, while its furnishings exuded an air of elegance. Breakfast had some local specialties that are worth returning to this hotel for!
