Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCleanliness could’ve been a little improved and it was a 35 min walk to the major attractions in Rome but the stroll through Trastevere is beautiful.
The room was cozy and the views were stunning. It was also in a quiet location so good for actual resting.

AustraliaWhen we arrived the room allocated was occupied and the subsequent room was a double when we’d booked a twin. The staff graciously gave us two rooms until it could be corrected the next day.
Excellent facilities and wonderful staff. Amazing rooftop bar / restaurant and great location.

United StatesThe only suggestion I have is about the universal lighting setup—In order to read in bed, I had to have all the lights on, and when I was ready to go to sleep, had to get out of bed to turn them off. My guess is that many of your guests would prefer to be able to turn out lights one by one. And it might save you money as well.
I like most everything about San Francesco and look forwarding to returning. Location is ideal for travelers, staff are friendly and helpful.

United StatesThe beds were not very comfortable.
Upon arrival you might think this isn’t in the best of areas but after getting out and walking around you realize that it is safe and the spot to be if you would like to be close to all the tourist attractions and what is considered some of the best authentic dining in Rome. You’ll find restaurants with great value as well as five-star dining. You can easily access shared transportation apps such as scooters or bicycles directly outside the hotel to reach the Colosseum and about €10-15 Uber ride to sistine chapel and all of the other tourist spots. Also close to the train station for about an equal fair. The hotel itself is very nice on the inside with a modern appeal and a very nice rooftop terrace for happy hour drinks and tapas. The bartenders up there are so nice and make great craft cocktails! In all, an amazing value. Only thing that can make it better is more comfortable beds. Would for sure stay again!!

United StatesThere was nothing we didn't like except that we couldn't stay longer! Some might find the location too far off the well beaten track but it is actually quite close to the heart of the touristy area of Trastevere without being loud and crowded.
This is a beautifully simple hotel. The rooms are spacious by city standards, comfortable beds, the sheets were soft and extra blankets were available with no hassle. They had good blackout shutters as well. The shower was large and had great water pressure. Towels were plentiful and generously sized, the toiletries were upscale. It was quiet, simply decorated and the rooms had wonderful natural light. The lobby bar /coffee bar and breakfast area were elegant , comfortable and the service was friendly and multilingual. We had morning cappuccinos and espressos only, but full breakfast is available as well. The restaurant has a great reputation but we did not eat there so cannot comment. The roof deck is gorgeous, make sure and have an aperitivo up there one evening, you must reserve! The roof has sweeping views of Aventino Hill, multiple basilica domes and the Altare de la Patria. I believe it is closed Mondays, but not sure. The staff at this place is very well trained and super helpful with getting taxis and information. We spent time chatting with the staff and were impressed by them! Shout out especially to the front desk people and the bartender/barista Farouk. Special mention to the talented mixologist James. Lovely folks :) The hotel is located in Trastevere right near Porta Portese and the bridge over to Testaccio, where you can find restaurants and strolling where there are no big tour groups. We will definitely book again.

AustraliaThe bed was a little hard for me, but I tend to like a softer mattress. Despite that, I still slept really well.
A beautiful boutique hotel close to all the attractions of Rome. The staff were all very kind and accommodating. The hotel is located in a charming neighbourhood, in the centre with scenic streets, lovely restaurants and affordable eateries. It cost no more than 10 Euros to travel by taxi to any of the main tourist destinations in Rome. The rooftop bar/restaurant was also a lovely surprise, and perfect for a cocktail at the end of long day of sightseeing.
