Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I was on the ground floor but the room had a back patio which was lovely. The location right next to the Vatican is great. There are also so many wonderful food options in walking distance.

North Macedonia-Small to tiny elevator. -No extra help with luggage. -Older furniture -Limited tv channels ( I was able to access my Netflix account…).
The staff was pleasant and most helpful. Be it getting a taxi ( when the one we booked did not show up!) or extra towels they were there. Breakfast was excellent and the street is safe and full or restaurants! ( it’s pedestrian only). Large room for Teo and even larger bathroom with bidet!!! Not to mention the Vatican two safe- to -walk -at -night blocks away! The property dog was cute. Big and fluffy.

United StatesThe extra firm mattress…. but I still woke up refreshed each morning, so I suppose it wasn’t really bad.
Excellent location, quiet, charming — room was lovely and shower was spectacular. Enjoyed their wholesome Italian-style breakfast with delicious cappuccino every morning, which was so convenient and well worth 11€! Before arriving, I was in communication with the hotel to make changes/special request s— they reassured me they would work and do their to meet my needs — early check-in being a main concern as I was traveling with my son and our red eye flight arrived early morning… when we checked in (around 8am on a Sunday, they knew who we were and were expecting us— this was very encouraging). They kept our bags while we headed to their breakfast, walked around St Peter’s square for a little bit (yes, it’s that close) and when we returned around 9:30– our room was ready!! We got our showers and napped a few hours…worked perfectly. it was a delightful experience and when we return, we going right back to Hotel Sant’Anna! No need to go anywhere else.

United StatesNothing! Only one comment would be a little more salad items on the breakfast would be nice. We're gluten free and they did have stuff for us!
We have stayed here before and loved it. Smaller hotels appeal to me. Gorgeous interiors with wood accents, good soft lighting, and plenty of room. Nice. Clean. Well maintained rooms, bathrooms, and hotel areas. When a hotel is well maintained it shows they care. AND the staff very much cares about their guests. It feels like family!! I also like that someone is at the front 24 hours. Feels safe. The location is amazing especially if you're interested in the Vatican. Near to many areas. We booked a tripple room to get a little more space and I think it was worth it. I will always stay there when in Rome! Grazie Hotel Sant'Anna!

PortugalThe Hotel was a rather positive surprise. I stayed with a family of 5, two adults and three children. It is hard to come by an Hotel in Rome that has a room spacious enough to accommodate a family of 5. I did not know the Hotel. Staff was always very responsive and friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable. Easily accommodating a family of 5. The Hotel is small, which is good, because it makes it quite comfy. Breakfast was also good enough, though could have had a bit more variety. Even though is 3-star Hotel, my experience in Rome can confirm that it easily surpasses some of the 4-star Hotels I stayed before. Finally, as a bonus, it is located in a buzzling street full of nice restaurants. Even though quite an energetic street during the evening was completely silent so we could have a good night sleep. Plus, location wise, 2-5 walking distance from St Peter's Basilica.

United KingdomThe one breakfast we had at the hotel was delicious and plentiful but on Booking.com it says it is free. Please note this is not the case, at the time of writing it is 10 Euro but still very good value!
Perfect location, so close to the Vatican. Lovely, clean room, beautiful bathroom. Our room (No 20) had a little balcony overlooking the courtyard and was very quiet. Delightful courtyard garden for guests’ use. Borgo Pio itself is full of great, buzzy restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Sri LankaThe bed was a little hard, but that's fairly typical for Europe, so not much to be done, there. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, so we skipped it and opted for a nearby cafe for a typical Italian breakfast (coffee and a pastry). If you want something a little heartier, or you want eggs or something, the breakfast might be worth it. The A/C worked, but it was not very strong, so just something to know if you're planning for a very hot month. It was okay for us; temperatures were in the low 80s and it was semi humid, but I would imagine it might be harder during a hotter time.
The location was so great-- just a few hundred meters from St. Peter's square, and about a 10 minute walk from the Metro stop, with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby, which we loved. It was so nice to be able to step outside and have 10+ places to eat within just a minute or so walk. Transportation was also good-- lots of buses near the river outside St. Peter's square, or the nearby Piazza del Risorgimento-- a couple buses go directly from there to the Colosseum, which we really appreciated! The room was spacious, with plenty of room for our luggage and a couch to lay/sit on, plus a lovely window view of the nearby buildings. Wifi was strong, and there was a TV, minifridge, and kettle in the room. There is also a very European-sized (read: tiny) elevator, which was very nice when carrying suitcases up to the room. You can also leave your luggage if you check in early, or for the day after you check out if you're still exploring. Oh and there's a nice outdoor space in the courtyard which was shady and cool, although there were mosquitos and flies, so be warned. Overall, we had a really nice stay at Anna Hotel and would recommend it to people who are looking for a quiet place to stay near restaurants and cafes. It is not in the middle of the tourist spaces on the other side of the river, but we appreciated that! Also, the staff were all so lovely and kind and helpful.

Canadanothing - everything surpassed our expectations.
Everything - large, pretty, immaculate room, comfortable bed and good shower. The staff was welcoming and helpful. (When the battery in our room vault died, it was attended to very early the next morning as promised.) The breakfast was excellent. This was the first time that we have stayed in this quarter of Rome and we found it a good central point. While there were crowds in Vatican Square during the daytime, the area was very tranquil and beautiful in the evening.
