Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis apartment was wonderful. VERY close to the supermarket. (hint, don't spend the 2 euros renting a big cart at the market. Behind the case registers there were smaller carts to use for free.). Elias was a superb host. He recommended a good taxi service and very good restaurants. The bathrooms were very good size and modern. I would stay there again. It was at the bottom of the hill leading to the main part of Montepulciano, but even at 72 I was able to make the hike. The stove was a little hard for us to figure out so make sure you get instructions on it. There were also a bakery, a nice restaurant and a smaller cafe and bar within 50 feet of the apartment. Stay there, you won't regret it !

AustraliaAlthough the carparking was free (a bonus), it was a short walk to the apartment which was a bit inconvenient if it was raining.
Location was handy to supermarket and restaurants, and only a short walk to the old part of Montepulciano. Apartment was very roomy and extremely clean. Hosts was very friendly and helpful.

Elias was the best host. He met us on the day at a time to suit us. He sent me details of festivals in the area and restaurants to visit. He put me in touch with professionals for my work and gave me maps of the area. A truly wonderful host and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

United Statesnothing really.
This is the perfect location to explore Montepulciano and other Tuscan hill towns. The host was super nice, always checking us out, and trying to help us in many ways. The parking is just 2 minutes away from the apartment. There is a nice bakery right next door. Big supermarket in 3 minutes. The apartment was very clean with a full kitchen and spacious living room.

CanadaThis apartment was in an ideal location and just a short walk from the walled town. Elias was fantastic at giving us recommendations for places to see and was very responsive throughout our trip. The apartment was incredibly clean and comfortable with all needed amenities and the parking was just down the street. There are a few steps up to the apartment but not too many for most people to manage. I would recommend this place to anyone.

United StatesEverything was great!
Large, comfortable apartment in a great location. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals during our stay and a good grocery store is very close to the apartment. The owner is very welcoming and gave us some great tips for what to see and do in the area. The free parking was convenient and the wifi worked great. We really enjoyed our week in this beautiful town.

United StatesI didn't realize that one bedroom had AC and one did not.
The property manager, Elias, met us at the apartment and showed us around. He was an excellent host and checked in on us via WhatsApp a few times. There is a grocery store one block away and a bar across the street. The apartment was as pictured and very close to the walls of the city. We also stopped at the park located just outside the walls and enjoyed the "bar truck" and foosball in the park with the locals.

Czech RepublicNothing. Perhaps the outside temperatures could have been lower but it was July and there is A/C in the apartment.
Absolutely superb place as well as the host (Elias, who speaks perfect English). Location is so practical that it can hardly be better (free parking 100m, supermarket Conad 200 m, wonderfull icecream shop 50 m, cafe with croisants across the street). Gate to the old town 400 m. The apartment is very well equipped (large fridge, dishwasher etc.) and most comfortable. Elias comes over any time to meet the guests upon arrival (he lives close), explains everything and gives useful advices (incl. maps) in terms of points of interest. Plus he brings clean towels or helps with good advice (if you wish) during the whole stay so you do not feel left alone. The town of Montepulciano is very nice and of just convenient size with some good restaurants inside the old town (try one for locals called La Briciola, 100 m on the right after the gate). We really liked the town as well as the apartment.
