Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBy reading earlier reviews we knew already: the road can be a challenge but also adds a bit to the excitement.
We liked the location, in the countryside but by car very close to Agrigento and the Valle dei Templi. Nice homemade breakfast on a terrace with view on the Templi. We had room 1, with 2 benches to enjoy the sun and also a covered terrace. Big bathroom. Our children loved the animals, especially the dogs. Very friendly host, Salvatore. Relaxed atmosphere.

United StatesIt is a long, rough dirt road to get to the place, which we weren’t expecting.
It is located within the archeological park and you can seem all of the ancient temples from the patio. We’ll never forget seeing the full moon over the Temple of Concordia as we made our way to our room. The breakfast was abundant and filled with food made from the farm’s produce.

United KingdomThe only downside was the dirt track on the approach to the building (circa 1.3km) but we were told about it before arriving.
An amazing location. Great family run business. Very friendly and helpful. Amazing views of the temples from the terrace. Lots of information provided in advance and detailed photos of how to reach the Villa. A very reasonably priced dinner was provided on the terrace over looking the temples in all their glory. They have lots of animals including a beautiful peacock,

AustraliaThe road leading into Villa San Marco was unsealed and a bit rough in parts but was only about one kilometre in length and there was not much traffic on it so it was not really a problem.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and we had a fabulous view both at night and during the day of the Valley of the Temples archaeological site from the main eating area where we had our breakfasts and dinner one night. A truly exceptional place to stay at.

GreeceA welcoming oasis with lovely dogs, passionate and caring hosts and the best breakfast in Sicily. This is a quirky place with animals and birds around the place but filled with care and attention for guests. In addition to your room there are lovely spaces to sit outside in a beautiful garden as well as shared rooms for guest use. the family are welcoming and Salvatore sorts out directions to the Villa, can direct you anyway, takes care of guests and loves his town, and his enthusiasm is infectious. The family make breakfast and even arranged ours early as we were travelling the next dad. The father welcomed us at breakfast and we ate jam made from fruit and flowers grown at the Villa, as well home made yoghurt (delicious) and omlettes. You feel part of the family.

United StatesNothing!
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa San Marco. The setting is so magical and the family who operates the B&B are beyond accommodating, welcoming and lovely. Our room was huge and the bed was incredibly comfortable and everything was spotless. Don't be afraid of the drive in; it's just a dirt road with some bumps but trust your GPS and go slow and it's no problem at all. I wish we could have stayed another night or more but we made the most of our time by taking a dip in the lovely pool, visiting the animals, walking the grounds a bit, and having a great night's sleep followed by the excellent and abundant breakfast. Agritourismos are the way to go and Villa San Marco is truly a gem!

United StatesEverything was excellent.
Villa San Marco is an extraordinary lodging! Can't say enough good things about it. The rooms are unique in size and furnishings, with tremendous character. The breakfast is huge. Dinner on the terrace was fabulous, with a near view of the illuminated Valley of the Temples. We also stayed here 12 years ago and were thrilled to return. Vincenzo and his wonderful family make you feel like special guests.

United KingdomWow, what an awesome place to stay! The location is perfect, rural but very easy to get to the Valley of Temples and Agrigento. Our hosts were such amazing people, really passionate about providing excellent service for their guests. They have 3 lovely dogs and a host of other animals. The room was very clean and comfortable and shared a kitchen area with one other room. The facilities in both were perfect for our stay. Breakfast was fantastic, everything was homemade and tasted delicious! Would definitely recommend!

CanadaExtremely hospitable and friendly and helpful, excellent location for accessing Valley of the Temples ( a few minutes drive), quiet at night. This is an old farmhouse built around 1820, and added onto over the years. The extended family lives here, and it’s nice to see the generations interact. Our room was on the top floor, which we were not expecting, so if you don’t like a staircase make sure the host knows. The farm has animals, but I didn’t think their pen looked clean, and their water was filthy and running low in a very hot climate. But the guests are very well looked after.
