Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The Villa is just beside The Valley of the temples and also very close to the beach town of San Leone. I loved everything about this place: the location, the family who owns it, the animas they have, the cleanliness of the rooms, the breakfast, the pool. I wish we were staying longer here.

SwedenVilla San Marco is a piece of paradise! The location was amazing, as were the hosts. Salvatore and his father were very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast was exceptional with home made and local specialities. The room was big, clean and comfortable and the house garden an amazing place filled with flowers, peacocks and nice places to relax.

SloveniaSome of the garden furniture was really dirty (but not the one where you eat breakfast). Also around the pool could be cleaner. The garden should be maintained better and than it could be perfect. We had a room for a family of four, but two beds (120x190 and 160x190) weren't enough. We asked for an extra bed, that we needed to pay extra. They shouldn't promote family room for four people. But it is very good for three people.
It was a very nice stay with the good view on the Temples. Distance to the Valley of Temples parking is only about 1,5 km. Salvatore was wery helpful with all his advices. Our daughters liked the presence of all the farm animals very much, eventhough that the animal's noises can wake you up at night. The pool is small, not so much as a relaxing zone, but still enough to cool you a little bit during the day. All the compliments deserves a breakfast. It's plentifull, sweet and salty, with home made jam, freshly squeezed watermelon juice and fresh fruit.

AustraliaWe loved absolutely everything. This B&B is outstanding. Our room was large, comfortable, very clean and had everything we needed. It also had a view towards the archeological park and a terrace to sit on in the evening. We had full use of the grounds and pool, lots of places to sit outside. Beer, wine, soft drink and water is provided in fridges with an honesty box in the main house. There are lots of animals housed behind the main house and peacocks, dogs (very friendly) and cats roam around. Breakfast is amazing and huge. Lots of local produce is used. We were lucky enough to be there on one of the nights they provided dinner....so much excellent food and wine....I couldn't move afterwards! The staff are truly amazing. Helpful, kind and friendly. They assisted us with some travel issues we had (no train or bus to our next destination as we didn't have a car), they definitely went above and beyond to help which we truly appreciated. We didnt want to leave. 2 nights went so quickly. Highly recommend this amazing place

AustraliaThe road that leads to the property even if short is somewhat frustrating as it's an extremely narrow double way dirt road that forces one of the two cars to full reverse back at the entrance to let the other pass.
Spectacular location with a full view of the temples. The property is HUGE and stunning. Animals and country side vibes are a huge addition to a modern and fully functional and equipped facility. The hosts are just great and helpful and the local produce breakfast was just absolutely amazing. The property exceeded our expectations in every way and we deeply regret that we booked for one night only.

United StatesRoom was a little dated but very comfortable and clean. It has a kitchen with refrigerator and dishes. The upstairs room we were in had steep and scary stairs to get up to it.
A lovely, family friendly spot with a clear view of the Valley of the Temples. You feel as though you're staying with family. It has a country feel though it's just a few minutes outside town. The breakfast is amazing, and you can also add the multi course dinner, also amazing. The family that runs the place has had this land since the 1830s. A very special place. Nice little pool and friendly dogs and peacocks.

From the moment we arrived (the track in was a bit rough, but so worth it!) Salvatore made us feel part of the extended family that run this place. A real family affair indeed. What an eclectic, relaxing time we had. Would highly recommend!

United StatesWe're light sleepers, so there are downsides to staying in a traditional place near lots of farm animals. We fully understood, though, that this was what we were getting ourselves into when we booked.
What a special property! You can see the three main temples of the Valley of the Temples from the pool and the breakfast desk, and the villa is magisterial. Best of all, the hosts are INCREDIBLE!

United KingdomWe had underestimated the nightly noise from local wildlife - the peacocks were fine, but there were several dogs nearby barking loudly well into the early hours. We had hoped to be able to walk to the Valley of the Temples from the property but that wasn't an option.
A beautiful property with views of the Valley of Temples and an eccentric variety of wildlife. Staff were exceptionally helpful and the breakfast has to be seen to be believed. The swimming pool is very small but still a bonus.

EstoniaNothing. Just be aware that animals make noises - peacocks wake up very early. If you are a sensitive sleeper or silence-lover, this place might not be good for you (or get proper earplugs).
This is one of the best experiences we ever had in Italy if not at all. Rustic farm with a lot of animals - peacock, donkey, sheep, birds, cat, dogs etc. Views on valley of temples from the common terrace. Very cute spacious rooms in a farm style. Amazing family and their hospitality, who are super helpful, speak pretty good English and serve the most delicious homemade breakfast from their own products- eggs, yoghurt, marmalade’, fried vegetables. I hope we can come back one day and re-experience it.

RomaniaAs said, the 1,5 km road could be better, but this is no deal breaker, totally worth the trip!
The most wonderful accommodation we've ever had in Sicily! The villa is amazingly beautiful, we only wish we spent more time there, as it's the most beautiful place in Agrigento, better than any attractions or the city center. Agrigento in itself is not that amazing, what's most worth it is the Valley of the Temples which can also be accessed from the villa, but illegally, as the villa is located within the park. So you can reach the middle of the park, without going through security checks and tickets office. You could also pay online though, and go. As we only stayed one day, and came by car, we chose the legal way: parked the car at Gate V, took the 3 EUR per person taxi to the other start and only walked the way back (2,5 hour promenade). This was also recommended by our lovely host. Lovely views of the temples from the villa too! The hosts at Villa San Marco are all incredibly kind, helpful, but also not intrusive or too talkative, giving you intimacy. It's a family business, they all live there in the big villa, but only the breakfast area and the pool are common areas, as you have your own room with separate entrance, outside the big amazing villa. Delicious homemade breakfast! Don't get discouraged by the terrible country road to the villa, starting at the Q8 gas station, about 1,5 km long. We were pretty terrified on our first way there, but as our host said, only the first time is traumatising. :) Then you get used to it, and if you drive slowly, you can safely pass back and forth as many times as needed. LOVED IT!!! Would return to Agrigento simply for one more night at this wonderful accommodation.

AustraliaThe ‘road’ into the property is very badly rutted.
This is a magical place with uninterrupted views to the Valley of the Temples. It is the best B&B ever. We stayed in the terrace room which has a view over the property to the sea. The room was extremely comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge and a well equipped bathroom. The Italian breakfast was a feast with home cooked treats , fresh juice and good espresso coffee. The property itself is beautiful with fruit trees, an olive grove and peacocks roaming around the beautiful gardens. The donkey, pigs and other animals were a bonus. The family were very hospitable.

United StatesIf you are a pet owner, stay here! The Villa San Marco has been owned by the same family since the 1820s. It is situated in the beautiful valley of temples, just below the majestic temples themselves. It is a historic dwelling, used as a holiday retreat by the entire family who all share responsibility. The villa has been lovingly preserved over the years, with its original stone walls and ornate wooden trim still intact. Inside, its many of the 5 rooms are outfitted with antique furniture and decorations, creating a timeless atmosphere. The grounds of the villa featured gardens and paths, farm animals, and a perfect outdoor seating area with panoramic views. This villa is a reminder of the past, and a wonderful place to stay for those looking to get away from the city center, while still only a half mile away. But what really makes this special? The entire family and how welcoming they are. I saw how hard they work, and how much passion they have hosting each and every person. Such a wonderful experience, and Bolt and I will be back! www.roadslesscycled.com
