Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNot exactly in the city, but still highly recommend as it only takes 20 minutes door-to-door, and at an excellent price.
Quirky communal room with camping theme: So fun! Great rooms!! Really more of a hotel than a hostel. Close to train station. In Hamamatsu try gyoza, go to the music museum, castle and surrounding gardens.

FranceA bit far from everything, but you can join the center/central station of Hamamatsu by walking 6 minutes and taking a train for 6 minutes as well.
The common space were really wonderful and clean. Eletronic piano, bouldering space and a spacious, clean and well-equiped kitchen. The staff was really friendly and giving good advices. The room was not too hot.

JapanIf you decide to sleep in the single peoples' capsules, then bring earplugs because I could not sleep as the person in the next capsule was heavily snoring and it was so difficult to find sleep. The capsules have no sound proof tech.
Everything was amazing!!!!!!! Highly highly recommended considering the price. Lovely staff and very helpful and always smiling. Had fun. Living room allows you to hang out with foreigners and you can play games too. Great and equipped kitchen. There have a tatame room too. All this for free.

NetherlandsThe mattress and pillow are a bit thin and there is not really a place to put your bag, since the safe is a bit small.
The staff is very friendly and it was luckily not a problem that I checked in a bit earlier. They got some maps of the area around the hostel with some recommendations on them. Towels are included and if you are looking for a bit of peace, then this is the place to go.

Czech RepublicI stayed here out of necessity because I couldn't find any other accommodation for the night in Shizuoka, but I was shocked at the price. WAY overpriced for what you're getting. Mattresses were too thin and the build of the bunk beds was made in a way where every little sound echoed through the entire bed. There was no wifi in the dorm either. The common area had a theme, which I can appreciate, but I think I would appreciate some more comfortable seating more.
Pleasant, clean, free coffee and tea, well-equipped kitchen, nice staff who let me check in a little early. Outdoors-themed, if you're into that. Probably fun for families or groups

Argentinainternet: different users (for different parts of the building) with different passwords!! The user for my room had no signal; I could not use other user the first night because I didn't know the password. Next day, on reception time, I got the password. The location: the train doesn't leave from the main station but from a near one; the way from the station near the hostel to the hostel (by rain)
spacious, good equipped kitchen, good dining room toilettes and showers near the room

New ZealandThe kitchenette area smelt a little funny.
The room is very spacious for Japan and there was plenty of space to put your luggage. I really enjoyed how we could do our laundry in the room and hang it out to dry outside in the sun (just remember to bring some laundry liquid/powder). The bed and pillows were very comfortable also and a lot of natural light came into the room. The aircon also had an automatic mode which kept the room at a great temperature throughout the day and night. I would definitely stay here again! The staff are also wonderful and have great communication! Our shinkansen was delayed one city over due to the typhoon and they very kindly stayed 30 mins after check in closed so that we could check in. The location is convenient to a train station and is about 2 stops to the centre of town. Although we didn't get the chance to use the shared space at the hostel, I could see many activities to do on a rainy day at the hostel itself, and the shared space looked so cozy with lots of fun seating.

AustraliaThe dorm. Eight beds crammed into a tiny space with no room at all to put luggage down, or for people to walk past each other. Access to each bed through a tiny gap at the foot of the bed so you can't even lay your luggage on the bed to open it up. If all eight beds are occupied, it would be an absolute nightmare. A space this small should only have four beds.
The common area is comfortable and cosy.
