Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesA little far into town, but having a car makes this a nonissue!
Shizuka was the most amazing host! She greeted us kindly every day, and she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome on the island. She even prepared local treats for us every day! She gave so many recommendations! The space is very quaint. The semi outdoor shower and kitchen are wonderful. We slept wonderfully listening to the nature sounds. Highly recommend this spot!!!

United KingdomNothing, all was great.
The property is located in a lovely, quiet part of the island and has a beautiful garden. It’s a real paradise for nature and wildlife lovers. The host, Shizuka, could not have been kinder or more helpful. She helped us make restaurant reservations (a must during low season), book activities and had lots of great suggestions for things to do. Flipper the cat was also a delight! The property was clean, cozy and has all the amenities you could need including the option to rent a BBQ on the terrace which we loved. We hope to come back again soon.

NetherlandsPlease keep in mind there might be some insects, because you’re in nature. The room and kitchen/bathroom are fully equipped with insect screens, but one might slip in.
Shizuka was amazing! So kind and helpful. Everything you needed was there. The BBQ is also great!

ItalyThe bathroom was outside the room but our privacy was never compromised
This guesthouse is really unique and particular. It was located pretty far from airport and Ishigaki port (30/40 min by car)...yes you need a rental car...but if you are looking for a place to relax and experience the natural and savage part of the island, 435 is perfect for you. The hosts were amazing, they gave us a lot of information and brought us fresh fruits every morning. The house had a parking spot for our car and the room had a private patio we used for breakfast and dinner. The house is equipped with fridge, kitchen, microwave...

ItalyNearby, there are no food shops, only two restaurants that close early in the evening. A car is needed to move around the island. but this, l think, wherever you decide to stay because the buses are very infrequent.
the owner of the house, super welcoming, every day she brought us a small gift, fruit or other food, prepared with her hands. A quiet place, where you can hear the song of cicadas, birds and frogs, in the silence of the night. Nearby there are many coves where you can take a nice swim at sunset.

United KingdomI’m quite scared of insects, so I found this part a bit challenging. It’s very easy to make sure that the insects don’t come into the bedroom area, but I was quite nervous when I had to go outside to access the toilet at night!
Shizuka was such a wonderful host! She was really friendly, gave us loads of great recommendations and did lots of nice things like putting flowers on our table and offering us some fish tempura that she made. We had a problem when we tried to rent our car (we couldn’t take it because we didn’t have the right driving license for Japan), but Shizuka helped us a lot and made sure that we could get to where we needed to go. The property is lovely - very much in the middle of nature and very relaxing. We really enjoyed doing our own barbecue out on the patio! Also, the goat and cat are definitely a highlight

United KingdomMy mum and I had the loveliest few days at 435; we wish we could have stayed longer! The place is beautiful, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach which is almost always empty and surrounded by amazing nature (we didn’t find the wildlife to be a problem at all!) Shizuka was wonderful, bringing us lovely juices and delicious food and placing gorgeous displays of flowers on our table every morning! Having explored so much of the island in our time here, we’re convinced that this really is the best place to be!

JapanWe had the best time here. Shizuka and André were the nicest hosts ever and the area is great with a small beach and some really lovely cafés and restaurants. We rented a car and so it was easy to get to all the best spots. Be aware, that the area is a bit more quiet and in nature - highly recommend for a relaxed stay!

GermanyThis place is amazing! Ideal for the beach as well as forest lovers. The hosts are wonderful and very helpful (provided us with good tips and helped us get around), and we had a great time chatting in their beautiful garden. Every morning, we were offered delicious fresh-squeezed juice! Of course, you have access to everything you need in the house and if something else is needed, all you need to do is ask. I wish I can visit Ishigaki soon again just to stay in this place. Many thanks to you Shizuka & Andre for making our stay at your place a great experience.

JapanYou have to go outside to access to the kitchen, toilet and shower room which is few steps from the room. it was not convenient as I was pregnant and needed to use the bathroom quite often at night but it was not a big deal.
Shizuka san was such a welcoming and wonderful host. She was always smiling, helpful and made sure we were comfortable. she brought us fresh fruits from garden in the morning and cooked amazing dish when we used the bbq at their terrace. the house is located near the most beautiful beaches where you will be alone without any tourists.

JapanWe loved this place so much! The room and facility is very comfortable, with a super relaxing balcony surrounded by lots of trees and flowers, and the hotel is located in a peaceful village. The nearby beach is very nice and serene (it felt like a private beach) with lots of strange-shaped rocks (due to erosion by waves). And the best of all, the host couple are super friendly and helpful (we enjoyed every single place recommended by them). Highly recommended especially for couples! Thanks Shizuka & Andre for making our stay there really comfortable and enjoyable!!

JapanWe spent three wonderful nights in this lovely holiday home, and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had! Shizuka and André were wonderful hosts that have created a charming getaway space where we could experience island living. They gave us excellent tips for things to do around. The room was cozy and spacious, and we really enjoyed hanging out on the outside garden patio, surrounded by beautiful plants while listening to the sounds of all the birds and insects around. Even though it rained the first day, the patio was well-protected and we enjoyed it despite the weather. But one of the best experiences was going to the beautiful beach, only a few minutes walk away, for a morning and a sunset swim! The kitchen was well-equipped, and we cooked delicious vegan meals with all the local fruits and vegetables, shima doufu, yushi doufu, and Yaeyama soba that we bought from JA and local grocery stores across the island, and from produce stands along the road. Shizuka san treated us to delicious juice, tea, fruits, and mozuku seaweed that she harvested herself! The village may be small, but there are actually several restaurants. Two days in a row we picked up sandwiches for the beach from the lovely vegetarian "Giving Tree Home" cafe, less than a ten minute walk away. Every day they had a different sandwich, and both were excellent! We may have tried to see what vegan food the other restaurants around would offer, if only we hadn't already bought so much food to cook ourselves. We are hoping to come back to Ishigaki soon again, and we are really looking forward to staying with Shizuka and André again!

JapanThis house was truly something. First off, the location was incredible, with a quiet beach just a few minutes away (on foot) and a delicious bakery (Ishigaki Labo) a few minutes drive away. The neighborhood was quiet at night and because we were far from the city lights, we could see the sky filled with stars at night - we even saw the milky-way! But most of all, the owners of the house made this trip magical. Shizu and Andre are the most kind-hearted, fun people, and they brightened up our trip with interesting conversations and incredible service. We had a very romantic getaway here and would truly recommend this place to others!

JapanThe odd encounter with unwanted bugs, but we were well equipped with sprays and swatters etc and made to feel very comfortable in a well kept and clean room. the kitchen and bathroom area were very basic and not quite as comfortable as the bedroom itself but fine value for money. access not easy unless you have your own car. but taxi’s can be booked to/from the airport and downtown if you need. although there are 2-3 cafe restaurants in walking distance, literally no shops anywhere so you need to arrive prepared with food and drink for the full stay. also need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste unlike at a hotel but they do have shampoo etc the owners stay above your room so not a feeling of 100% privacy, but they keep out of your way and also it’s helpful to have them around as they’re very attentive.
it was a very unique place full of character, clean and well kept, in the middle off nowhere. nice outdoor bbq facilities and equipped kitchen. Just a few minutes walk away from a beautiful beach (essentially private) with clear waters, nice sand and lovely view, particularly nice sunset.
