Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanThe futons were a little thin so not the most comfortable sleep.
Amazing hot spring baths in an incredible location. Helpful staff, great set breakfast (not a buffet so no choices, but all delicious) and free non-alcohol drink bar. Women get their choice of a pretty yukata to wear. it’s possible to pay for a day pass only and not stay there, but I definitely recommend staying so you can enjoy the baths before breakfast and in the evenings, when there are fewer people.

United StatesThe outdoor stairs (while sturdy and well maintained) were very hard on the old lady's knees. Remember, you must climb up afterwards. Elevator, or escalator?
Where else can you bask in various hot springs baths in a UNESCO Global Geopark in pristine surroundings while enjoying a gushing 30 meter waterfall, Odaru Falls, the largest of the Izu Seven Falls? Bliss!

The location with views of the waterfall from the property was amazing. Sitting in an outdoor onsen bath watching the waterfall was so relaxing.

JapanVery nice hotel located in a really amazing place. This place is quite remote from Tokyo but it's so beautiful that it's worth to go. Picturesque mountain view from the window, incredible waterfall view from the outdoor baths. Very nice and clean indoor onsen. We stayed for two nights. I took too many things with me that I didn't use because they give you everything you need: Two yukatas (one is ordinary and one is bright to wear during the dinner) and even japanese style socks. And there are many other small things that make your stay peaceful and convenient: free foot massage chairs, wending machines, free drink bar at the lobby. The staff was very kind and super helpful. We took a plan with breakfast and dinner included. Meals were delicious, different in first and second day. Room interior is a bit old but the room itself is neat and clean. There is no shower in the room, only toilet and a sink but it's not a big deal as you go to the onsen and take shower before it. For us it didn't cause any inconvenience. We will definitely visit Amagiso once again.

JapanSome wear and tear on rooms and facility, but adds to the atmosphere of the venue.
Very relaxing and beautiful location. Loved the option of indoor traditional onsen and outdoor swimsuit wearing hot tub pools you can enjoy with your family/party. We tried a room with a private hot springs bath and this was great for those who want the onsen experience with privacy.

United StatesWould’ve appreciated a western option for dinner. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese set, but it’s a lot of food and very expensive. If you’re staying multiple nights, you may want to plan other places out in town to eat.

JapanI like everything in Amagiso, the outdoor onsen, the swimming pool, the falls, the private cave onsen and the indoor onsen, the view in our room was facinating, very clean room, spacious, i don’t have any problem except the pillow that we used. Is kind a hard to sleep if your pillow is a bit hard and not fully soft. But everything was amazing.
Great. Food was delicious🥰😍

SingaporeDated facilities , could do with some sprucing up. Came here for waterfall view onsen, but has to give it a miss as it was way too far climb down(and back up) the valley stairways and challenging for weak knees.

JapanAlthough the entire hotel and rooms are clean, they are quite old and overused. Furthermore, we didn't have shower or bath in our room and even a hot water, only cold tap water.
This hotel has a very good location near the waterfalls. Moreover, they have amazing pool and open air baths right beside a waterfall.

JapanThe hotel it self is a little dated and could use a small upgrade/remodel but this is me just being picky. Only real complaint I have is the pillow. If you are used to a big soft pillow then bring your own.
The location easy to get to by car and navigating the facilities are easy. The hot springs by the waterfall are amazing. They stay open till 2230 which gives plenty of time to relax. Stayed from Monday-Wednesday and after about 1800 we where the only ones at the hot springs. The grand bath is amazing and one of the better ones I have been to.
