How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We loved the mix of traditional and modern of the hotel. It was nice to experience a very relaxing public onsen area and also have modern facilities in the room itself. The room shower was truly awesome. The checkin and checkout process was quick and straight forward. I would book a stay here again.

The staff are so helpful and really saved our trip in Kyoto! The room and facilities were great, and the ground floor coffee shop was excellent (as a Melbournian coffee snob, I loved their beans!) Location was very useful for getting around and we weren't surrounded by tourists only (which is a positive!). When we went out to dinner at neighbouring restaurants, almost all the patrons were Japanese, so we knew the food options were delicious!

If you want to be closer to the cute streets of the old town, temples, and riverside restaurants, you might look closer to that area, but for the ease of access to trains and the comfort and quality of this hotel - I highly recommend.
This was a wonderful hotel very close to the Kyoto train station. It had a cool vibe with stone walls and boulders to sit on in the lobby. The room was so clean and the bed so comfortable. It was spacious by Japanese room standards. The breakfast was a choice from a pre-set menu and it was delicious. I also walked to the old town and downtown, which was about 25 minutes on foot, but they also had bikes to use if you prefer. I highly recommend for ease of access to the train station.

Great location! Only 3 min to Kyoto station. 24 hr open Family Mart is right next door so we could pick up quick snacks and coffee anytime. Staff are very polite and respectful. Super clean facility. The rooms had good insulation. I didn’t hear any noises from the next door. Their laundry machines were awesome as well. One machine takes care of both washing and drying, so all you have to do is put 500 yen into the machine and forget about it. It has a security feature too that you set pass code at the beginning and you enter the pass code when you open the machines. Detergent is included in the machines. Their Onsen room is very specious and water temperature was just right. If I go back to Tokyo again, I’ll stay Hotel and Rooms.

We were given directions from the hotel but it took us ages to find it. Better directions were needed. Also, the dining table in the room took alot of un-necessary room up. It would have been better if it had been placed length ways against the wall

The Onsen is magnificent! Especially after a long day of full sight seeing. We booked our accommodation with breakfast included and jt was very nice, not a traditional Japanese but still worth it!

1) Location - Good location. Near Kyoto Station. There are many eateries nearby where you can choose and eat like local. 2) Public Bath - A bonus after a tiring long day of walk. It really drives your fatigue away with the hot bath.

Good location near to the station if you're coming by train. Room set up was good - seating area, kettle and very comfy bed. Temperature control was good in the room. Very nice coffee from the hotel cafe. Also liked the refreshing hotel bath Nice bars and restaurants nearby - sushifromfuji was excellent as was the restaurant next to the hotel

Great position to the station. Modern and clean, rooms were excellent. Beds were a little hard but that seems to be the way in most Japanese hotels. Staff were friendly and polite. Cafe downstairs had excellent coffee On house onsen really was a highlight for us, and free mini icy pops after were such a lovely touch Very reasonable price for a hotel of this quality

I personally didn’t like the breakfast, but my husband liked it, so it is more of a personal preference
