Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe room is super tiny - it was great for me but I have trouble imagining two people in it. It is very warm inside - the AC was off for November (it is a heating season already, despite twenty something degrees Celsius outside), but you can easily open a window so that is a plus. Toiletries are provided, but there is no body balm. No English is spoken.
The hotel is conveniently located not far from the main attractions, and you can easily walk around the entire city from there. There are multiple stores around to buy provisions. The staff is very helpful and eager to provide support. Trash is taken out on a daily basis. Just watch out: there are four other APA hotels around, so I had trouble finding the correct one on day one.

JapanI don't like Katamachi during the night, so was aware if it will be noisy in the hotel, but it was really fine! So no problem
I really liked our bed it was so wide and soft, we both slept well. Liked instant coffee as many Japanese hotels have green tea only. The bathroom was nice, a little bit small, but I really like the design and material is made of. Hairdryer was perfect!

JapanThe first hotel we booked had water liking issued. They just informed us at the same day we checked-in. They transferred us to another property, near to Ishikawa station. We had lunch buffet, it was ok, But we did not try breakfast and dinner buffet, because it was the same menu (plus only several additional menus) and the cost so high.

NetherlandsWhile a bit away from the center, it was quite close to several city attractions. The staff was friendly and super helpful. We went out to visit Kenrokuen Garden after the check-out, and left the luggage with the hotel. Due to strong rain, we came back quite wet and they allowed us to return to our old room for a hot shower and changing into dry clothes without any extra cost.

AustraliaThe air-conditioning wasn't working. I spoke to reception, who didn't seem surprised or to care. No air whatsoever was coming out. It was 27c at 6 pm, and the rooms were so tiny that with 2 people, it heated up very quickly. When I asked for another room with air-conditioning that worked, I was told that was not possible. I got offered 2 options instead. Get a refund and book at their sister hotel for an extra $60 a night or a fan. Eventually, we took the fan. We could open the window with a little bit of force, which offered some relief. But we won't be staying there or an APA Hotel again
Great location. Waking distance to Castle, museum and lots of eateries.

NorwayThe rooms were too small for two adults. There were no closet. There were no room to walk with two suitcases. The bathroom was the smallest I have seen in Japan. The cleaning was awful, the dust after cleaning was stuck on my new suitcase and we had to use a humidifier because the air was awful.
The area is very interesting and the closeness to Shinjuku station.

United KingdomThe fact it was a bit squashed.
We had a good city view from our room. It was pretty standard in terms of amenities. We had v little to do with staff due to the situation of the reception and the lift but when we did it was good.. It did feel a bit cramped but we understand that space is limited by the cost. BBC TV news was great except often there was a voice over translating into Japanese.

JapanThe location was a bit separated from the main market. There is no sauna and onsen in this hotel, so if someone is traveling to the onsen town, it becomes necessary in the hotel.
The room was specious compared to other hotels, clean and comfortable.
