Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room is very small. There is just enough space for a bed, desk, and one chair. Room cleaning is done every three days unless requested. They place a bag with clean towels and yukata on your door the days they do not clean your room.
The hotel was right around the corner of a train station. If you are using JR lines, then it's a short walk to the nearest JR station. There is an onsen and a few washing machines. You can also view Tokyo Tower from the top floor where the bath is located.

AustriaWe seem to have originally gotten a smoking room even though my default is "non-smoking." We actually were shocked there still are such things as smoking rooms anywhere these days - and this room stunk badly from cigarettes. The hotel moved us into a non-smoking room, but although an improvement it was very dusty and without proper ventilation (the window barely opens) and probably insufficient vacuuming, it also triggered heavy breathing. Rooms are very small: typical Japanese size, but really not meant for two people.
Perfectly adequate business hotel in a convenient location (right above a station with good onward transport links). Although the hotel is on a major street, around the corner the neighborhood is quieter with lower-rise buildings, so neighborhood does not feel as crazy as much of Tokyo. Lobby is very crowded (lots of people, very little space), but there are sufficient staff working there to handle everyone efficiently and in a friendly manner.

PhilippinesIt's really small for the price! LOL I know its a big city with high real estate prices, but Hong Kong's Central has hotels at less than half the price. I also did not like that check in is so late, and check out so early. 3pm and 10am respectively. I mean, it's not like the room can be used by anyone else in this window.
Quieter part of tokyo, but tons of access to trains. In fact, the train from the airport had an elevator door that opened only a few meters from the hotel lobby. I believe there is a train within walking distance that goes to each airport.

Australiasmall with nowhere to store luggage or unpack. luggage was stored in walkways within the room, which was very inconvenient. Trouser press, but no iron; I had to go to work with wrinkled shirts which is not acceptable for a business hotel.
room was small but functional. private bathroom and desk.

NetherlandsSome of the cooking staff forgot to wear gloves and a mask while preparing breakfast or refilling the rolls basket. There's no change machine near the washing machines, so you'll need to save your ¥100 coins if you want to do laundry, or buy lots of drinks from the vending machine. The rooms are clean, but very tiny. Broom closet would fit the description, so if you're claustrophobic, you should go elsewhere. Lumpy mattress: I'm lucky I can sleep almost anywhere. My wife isn't so lucky. There was some nationalist lecture with the APA logo on it, which means APA endorsed it. Reason for me to not go there again, as I don't want to support nationalism.
The hotel is close by the Yamanote loop line, so it's easy to get around. The breakfast is diverse and reasonably priced. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Free VOD, even some adult content.

United KingdomNot really a dislike, but be prepared to have ' just enough room'. As it is a city location don't expect room to be big.

United StatesRoom was small but had everything I needed. I knew it was small but me and my wife couldn’t walk passed each other beside the bed. Other than that, everything was great. We didn’t stay in the room long other than resting shortly and sleeping.
Parking on premises. Staff was really friendly throughout the hotel. Concierge service was available. Check in and check out was easy. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
