Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South KoreaI stayed at the APA Hotel in Shin Osaka before moving to the one in Kyoto, so I had high expectations for the cleanliness. However, I was disappointed to find that the Kyoto St. APA hotel wasn't as clean as the one in Shin Osaka. There was a pinkish stain in the bath, which I believe can be harmful to health. I wanted to take a bath but ended up not doing so because of this issue. Apart from that, everything else was great.
Really close to Kyoto station, Higashi hongan-ji temple and shoseien garden! Really comfortable bed and helpful, educational TV contents that some tourist in Kyoto should really watch 😅

AustraliaOur room was small for a couple. We thought the bed could have been a queen size and orientated under the window making the room more workable. The king size bed was an overkill. Didn't like the step up to bathroom it felt like a trip hazard.
The hotel was excellently located trains and walking distance to many attractions. Extremely clean and great facilities

United KingdomCould of done with a bar/common area by or attached to the Lobby area. There is however a restaurant, but only open at meal times.
Nice, spacious, clean room (for the price) and Convient location, could see the station from my window. Good facilities too.

Really good and cheap hotel for a solo traveller. The room was just good size for me. Nice big tv. The public bath was great. I went every evening. I send my luggage the morning before check out and they arranged the sending to the next hotel. The luggage was there next day when I checked in. Really close to the station and the bus stops. I reserved all my acommodations in Kyoto, Tokio and Osaka in APA so it is nice to already know how everything works :) Design of the room is even same. Everything works great.

United KingdomThe TV had a cast functionality but I was unable to get it working with my Samsung phone. Should note that "3 min on foot" is slightly misleading as it took us quite a bit longer to get here from the station after going through all the underground/mall areas.
Very comfortable and modern rooms, surprisingly good price for something so central. Room is pretty spacious for a Japanese city hotel, with some efficient use of space (e.g. storage). Great bed and huge TV, plus the best hotel shower I've had in Japan. Good wifi too. I was only here for one night so didn't make use of the restaurant or bath facilities.

United StatesYour restaurant hostess (short black hair) should have gentle manners. Your lady manager was more sympathetic and gentle and acted to mitigate the situation when it first happened. I didn’t want further stress so I cancelled my he rest of the breakfasts. Thanks.
I cancelled 3breakfasts. I refused to sit in bar chairs due to a back problems and difficulty Getting on and off the high chair to replenish food. If I slipped or fell I would have sued your hotel for age/disability discrimination. You have to have flexibility for rare cases like mine.🙏🌻🙏I came back twice because I like APA. So do something!

United StatesThis APA hotel is one where the management overrides the climate settings for all the rooms, and if you prefer a different temperature than what they limit you to, well, you are out of luck. We could not get the room cool enough to where the humidity didn't bother us, and as a result, we didn't get a good night's sleep. I will not be booking another stay at any APA hotel for this reason.
Perfect location near the main JR Station and shopping center. There are plenty of dining choices nearby. The restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet with lots of options. The room was clean and modern, but the layout was a little tight, so you had to climb over the king bed to get to the far side.

AustraliaHotel rooms generally are very small in Japan, it would be nice to have a bit more space and chairs to sit down instead of the bed
We went out for breakfast; the best part about the hotel was the location to the train station- excellent for travelling to tourist attractions and the choice of dining within the train station is amazing

IndonesiaI stay at level 10 which is ok and clean. But my brother family stay at level 6 (same type) and their room was not too clean and dusty. Otherwise, I'll give 10 score to this Hotel
Location is the best. Walking distance to Kyoto Station for easy access and Kyoto Tower. Many shopping mall and cafe/restaurants nearby. Room exactly like the picture. The room actually, 2 twin room with connecting door, total 4 beds. The staff told me that this room type only 1 at each floor. I stay at 10th floor. The 10th floor have microwave, ice cubes dispenser and drink machine near the elevator. Not every floor have microwave etc. Easy check in/out. Most hotel in Japan are small, including this one. But you can still store your luggage below the bed. This hotel also have free onsen, but I didn't try it. My other tips: If you plan to go to Kansai Airport by train, go to JTB (in Kyoto Tower building, 5 min walk from Hotel) and buy ticket there. Cheaper and staff can explain in really good English.

GermanyIt would be nice to have the option of "queen" size bed, not king, and a bit more space in the room instead.
The hotel looks very new, and amenities were good. King-sized bed in a 14m2 room meant that it left very little space for suitcases. However it managed to have a dressing desk, a fridge, kettle and coat hangers. Wifi worked fine, everything was clean and no noise issues (only heard the corridor conversations). 3 min from JR Kyoto station - Its true if you are on the right side and floor of the station (!) Arguably JR Kyoto station is large so it could be 10+ minutes otherwise - however overall the convenience was realised everytime we went out. The entry to the underground paths to the station is barely a minute walk.
