Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaFor an extra price they could improve the breakfast a little. It was a very small portion and not very varied, but the detail is appreciated. Apart from this everything is excellent.
We had a great time at this place, it was our unique Japanese experience and we loved it. Everything was very unique and the hosts were very friendly and on the day we were going they offered to take us to the train station, they also have bicycles and you can use them because the public transport there is not that good.

SingaporeNice miniature onsen with good food nearby. It's a quiet guesthouse so private transport is needed. Breakfast was delicious and the owners went out of their way to recommend places of interest. You can see Mt Fuji from the entrance on a clear day. Oishi Park is also a great place to catch Mt Fuji. Worth a stay!

CroatiaWe only stayed for one night but it was an excellent experience and we enjoyed our stay a lot. It was also a real pleasure to try out the onsen which is used as a privat onsen so you can enjoy it in peace. Location is very nice close to Mt. Fuji and Cherito Pagoda, and owners are super nice and helpful which made our stay even nicer! thank you and I hope to come again!

United KingdomNot a criticism, but I found sleeping on a futon a bit hard by the third night. I used to sleep on a futon when I was young but am out of practice now!
The hosts, Mr and Mrs Kashiwagi, were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was a lovely place to stay and breakfast was very nice, especially the Japanese style one. The Onsen is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood and there are great views of Mt. Fuji from the streets around. It has a large onsen which guests have private use of, and is really relaxing. Also Mr Kashiwagi very kindly picked me up from the station one day, and took me to the bus stop when I left.

IsraelIt is slightly run down, as much as the owners try to up keep the place. The onsen is private and connected to the showers.
Old fashioned but very well kept. A sweet little place in a quiet area, far from the station but the amazing, kind owners are very aware of this and pick up to and from the station is easily arranged. The onsen and showers are connected, and despite how busy the place was they were always vacant when we needed. A generous breakfast is provided. They are incredibly kind hosts.

The owners were very kind and picked us up from the station on our first night and drove us to different places on many separate occasions. The rooms are fine and very spacious with Japanese and western styles available.

United KingdomThe ONLY thing I'd say to keep in mind is that the showers and onsen are connected, meaning that if someone is using the onsen, you can't access the showers. However don't let this put you off!!!! I'd suggest giving enough time for yourself in the morning/evening before it closes to make use of them and don't leave it until the last minute. If you have any issues, I know for sure the hosts would absolutely be willing to help.
Where to start... what an amazing stay we had for our honeymoon trip to Japan! The hosts were the kindest, most welcoming people we met during our 3 weeks in Japan (and that's saying something!). They very kindly picked us up at the closest train station and even took us to grab some food on the way to the onsen which was so very thoughtful and kind. They also lent us their bikes for free the next day to explore the town, and then dropped us back off at the station when we left! They are the kind of dream hosts you hope for when travelling somewhere new, they provided lots of great advice for the local area and a fabulous breakfast each morning! The room was clean (we couldn't believe it but each corner of the room was meticulous!!!) and with a gorgeous kotatsu and comfortable futon beds. The onsen was absolutely amazing, especially as it was private meaning my husband and I could experience it together where we couldn't before! If you're planning to visit around Mt Fuji, THIS is the place to stay! Exceptional value for money. Amazing hosts!

South AfricaAwesome and friendly staff who went out of their way to help us. Enjoyed the onsen-like bathroom (it's for individual private use so not an open onsen for multiple guests to share at the same time). The rooms were great and spacious and comfortable.

GermanyBad was not the best in terms of comfort for me personally. Maybe the japanese traditional room is better in terms of this.
The onsen was really nice. The staff is very kind and helpful. I feel like I'm not kind enough after this. Nice place if you want to have time for yourself, and walk around with not a lot of people around. Was offered a ride to the station, but I rejected because I wanted to enjoy the Fuji view, while walking there.

JapanThe shower is in the same room as the onsen and there is only one shower, so you can't really relax in a tub knowing that you're occupying the only shower for all the guests.

United StatesI have nothing negative to say as a person who is accustomed to what it’s like to live in a typical Japanese home. That would include the halls and bathrooms not being heated to a high temperature in the winter to save energy (the toilet seat is heated). The location is walkable to the train station in about 15-20 minutes with plenty of local neighborhood views or Mt. Fuji along the way. Sushi and yakiniku restaurants are maybe 10 minutes , and convenience stores are about 1km away.
I went to see the Asakura Sengen Park and to hike Mt. Shakushi for its view of Mt. Fuji. The service was far more than I expected. The owner offered to pick me up or drive me to local restaurants or sites, or lend me a bicycle. He gave me water and oranges for my hike! When it began raining, he drove out in the direction of my hike to look for me. It is a family-run operation, and they really care about their guests! I also really enjoyed the private onsen after my hike. Both the owner and his wife speak English and are very friendly.
