The breakfast was excellent (homemade croissants and quiche)and the breakfast room was so welcoming. The owne/chef offers dinner three nights a week for an extra cost but it is well worth it since he is a professionally trained chef who lived in Paris for 30 years.

The mood lights in the windows from the other rooms cause a lot of light pollution and make it virtually impossible to sleep without using the provided eye masks, it’s fine just something to be aware of.

Very comfortable, staff were amazing, and a nice mix between traditional ryokan and luxuries.

Because of the traditional nature of the building and its wooden floors upstairs, unwanted noise from other guests proved to be intrusive at times, (if they were checking out early for instance and clattering about), but it wouldn't put me off staying there again as the benefits far out weigh this one negative.

Auberge is accomodation for sophisticated travellers that appreciate quality amenities and services. Far superior to normal hotel accomodation. It is more akin to a serviced apartment because the spaces are generous. All staff including the owners were exceptionally polite and welcoming and friendly. English is spoken, and French by the owners who are also long-time Parisian restaurateurs. This place is set in a 100 year old house with an uprade to modern standards. A Japandi style Ryokan. Highly recommended.

An exceptional mix of serenity and fine-furnishing puts Auberge-Azabu at a class of it's own. Centrally located and easy access to what Kyoto has to offer. Best of all is the friendly and helpful staff, and the amazing service - the welcome when you arrive, the explaining of all the place has, etc. As stay not to miss if in Kyoto!

There was no real way to make the room completely dark in the morning. No actual shutters.

My stay at Auberge AZABU was excellent! The customer service was top-notch, making me feel right at home. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were always kind and helpful. They even assisted with carrying luggage quietly to the 2nd floor. Location was perfect. Overall, a fantastic experience!
