There are no stores nearby, but they have vending machines, and a hotel restaurant. It was perfect for the night before a flight.

It is very close to the airport, and the shuttle is convenient. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. I would stay there again.

Front desk closed early at 8pm. The restaurant do not serve guests who does not have dinner bookings. Hence, I have to go to a nearby restaurant for dinner and they close at 9pm. Thought door was locked after my dinner but I later saw a faintly printed notice that I have to automatically open the lobby door.

Comfortable and pleasant stay. Room while a bit old looking, it was clean. Toiletries were provided as well. Onsen was simple and nice. Nice restaurant nearby which is a 9 min walk.

It was a little dated and partially worn inside. The exterior and the town itself saw its haydays three decades ago, but the surroundings are still beautiful.

Nice retro design with a nice feel of modernistic aschitecture meeting traditional japaneese design from the 70s. Large room (japaneese style) with sliding shades and comfy tatami mats. The outdoor onsen was very serene.

Check out time is quite early (10am), and, as delicious as the breakfast we booked was, it's served at 7:30~8:00am, we got a pretty stern phonecall from the staff when we got a bit late which rubbed my partner the wrong way. having to wake up at 7am on vacation is a bummer

Beautiful place, the entrance and lobby feels luxurious, the room was spacious and clean with a beautiful view looking down on the carp pond and nature, onsen was great with an outside bath on each side. The location is quite remote, it is nice and quiet, but make sure to remember the train timetable because there are very few of them. I wish I stayed two or more days to fully enjoy this place. We booked the dinner and breakfast option which were both wonderful

The location is remote and trains are sparse, so would not recommend public transportation to get here. Rent a car or get a taxi. There was a dead cockroach on our windowsill, but otherwise the room was absolutely spotless. Since it is an old place, you need to expect old-house problems.

Onsen fee 150 yen per person must be paid upon check-out, which is usual in Japan. If you ordered meal plan, you need to check-in between 3-6PM, since the last meal time is 6:30PM. Food was awesome, so highly recommend for proper ryokan experience! They prepare food based on reservation, so you cannot use the restaurant if you did not buy meal plan with the room. Really glad that they had 4 different onsens that all have different temperatures. Whether you like it a bit cooler or boiling hot, there is a place for you. The garden that you can see from the lobby and restaurant is super pretty!

This could have been a great stay, unfortunately, the isolated location of the hotel was really disappointing. It is 2h away from Nikko by train with a lot of changes to get there. Not only the town was pretty empty with many abandoned buildings but we found the hotel completely empty with no guests and no staff upon arrival. This didn't create a nice atmosphere for our stay. Staff didn't let us upgrade to full board when checking in which was shame as there was only one restaurant in town and one little shop. Given all of the above, it felt very overpriced for the experience (€115 per night).

Comfortable place with spacious rooms. The onsen was lovely!

We got yelled at by the receptionist for taking off our shoes. We just wanted to be nice. Fair enough if that was not wished here. However yelling at customers is definitely not acceptable!

Onzen is nice. Not exceptional but nice The lobby area is amazing!!! However how much time do you spend there?

A bit far from main sites but enjoyed the quieter local area. I had a bit of trouble getting response to questions prior to stay but the staff was good onsite.

Room and hotel were lovely. Enjoyed the Onsen and meals. We were delighted by a troop of monkeys coming out of the woods and playing on the hotel balconies.

I found the futon to be adequately comfortable. However, my wife found to be too thin, and she ended up taking the spare futon from the closet and doubling up. Also, we when we booked through Booking.com we did not specify that we wanted meals included, so we did not have access to what appeared to be an excellent restaurant which provided breakfast and dinner and was always packed by other guests. It took a while for that to sink in and we ended up finding a nice restaurant several blocks away which provided excellent dinners. However, finding breakfast was a challenge. If you book be sure to specify that you want meals included.

Excellent facility, very comfortable room, beautiful gardens, nice touches every direction we turned. Very nice washing and soaking facilities, and very nice staff, in particular the receptionist/hostess, Mae. The room had a private bathroom with all necessities provided. It also had a wonderful sitting area with a view of the street and surrounding mountains.

First of all, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There’s no atm (the only one was closed on Monday morning), you can only pay cash everywhere you go (but there’s nowhere to go anyways 😅). The lady at the counter speaks very very bad english, she could’t ask our questions and when we asked her if we could take some photos in the courtyard… I don’t think she understood but she said yes, only to run shouting at us that we’re not allowed. The wifi in the room is not working, you have to go downstairs. We also didn’t choose a meal plan because we didn’t know there was only 1 restaurant nearby (in the whole neighbourhood), and once we arrived we decided that we’d like to eat at the hotel, but of course it was impossible. The onsen is cute but really nothing out of the ordinary. And it’s quite old, didn’t feel confortable inside it.

The architecture and details were amazing. The room is cozy and even if it’s old, it’s very clean and well mantained.
