Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou have to leave the dorm area every day from 10 am to 2 pm. I actually thought this would bother me more than it did, but I guess knowing that this is how the capsule hotel operates made it easy to follow the schedule, so just be aware of this. I suppose it is the best way they manage such a large hostel. Most of the time, my sheets were completely clean except for once when I did find a stain. I did ask to extend my stay at the front desk once, and the guy literally hid an online deal from me to try and get me to pay more. However, once I noticed there was a deal online, I just went back to my dorm and did it on my own. Almost all the staff were great though; it was just that one guy. So again, book everything online.
This hostel is just a quick walk away from Yokohama station. I appreciate how the capsules have a small TV and a futuristic, spaceship-like feel. Upon check-in, they provide an amenity bag with items like lounge wear, slippers, and towels. The amenity skin and hair care products were cool, and the shower/dressing room area was spacious, with tons of counter space which was perfect for doing a skincare or makeup routine. The lockers are large length-wise. They won't fit a suitcase, so you will have to leave your luggage in a room technically accessible to everyone on the floor. But my advice would be to simply take out more pricey items from your suitcase and put them in your locker instead, which can only be opened with your individual key. I felt completely safe here, so I always felt comfortable. The entire floor is gendered, so you will always be among women if you are on the female floor. You have to leave the dorm area from 10am to 2pm everyday since they change everyone's sheets every single day, but you can always stay in the lounge area downstairs. You can eat, relax, or use electronics there since they do have outlets. The front desk was consistently staffed, and during my stay, extending it last minute was easy as there were a lot of empty beds. This place is probably the biggest hostel I stayed at, so there were still a lot of occupants. Simply tell the staff if you plan to extend your stay so you can keep the same bed/locker. A tip for getting the best price and availability: check their official website or Booking.com. Handling everything online can prevent you from potentially paying more than necessary at the front desk.

South KoreaThe capsule was warm. There was airconditioning in the room but when the capsule is enclosed, the fan is working but it can be a bit stuffy inside.
Near the station. The hotel is very minimalist and the pictures provided in the booking matched the actual location.

NetherlandsMy first experience with Capsule type of accommodation. I was in a bed very close to the main door of the dorm (almost opposite of it) on the first night and I could not sleep until 4 or 5 am. Ear plugs only help a bit. I had changed to an inside bed which certainly helped a lot. I slept almost the whole afternoon on the 2nd afternoon then I had a better sleep on the 2nd night.
The location is good: which is easy to access from the station, not far from big shopping malls, not far from local restaurants and shops.

AustraliaLockers were so small and narrow, as was the locker room. Toilets were clean but smelt of piss. Communal showers weren't my thing but i was there for 4 nights so had to use. The single pillow was really tiny and the mattress thin.

CanadaIt's lacking a shared cosy space. There is a space that people are free to use but it's not very inviting or comfortable so people don't stay and mingle, it's a shame!
Everything was very new and well thought-through. First time staying in a capsule hotel and I was honestly amazed at the amenities (PJ, toiletries etc are all included in the price). The location seemed very good for Yokohama, very close to the line going into Tokyo. Honestly I don't understand how this only has a 7.7 score at the time of my review, it deserves more!

United KingdomThe temperature in the Capsule for sleeping was excessive. The fan in the Capsule was useless. The male bathroom was interesting for a westerner. Hotel rooms, are just slightly more expensive for a couple. Plus in a hotel you have a room rather than just a bed.
Breakfast option was at a cafe local to property and ample. Easy going atmosphere.

ItalyThe lockers are too narrow and far away from the bed. You need to get out of your bed every day for the cleaning. Internet connection was really slow, too the point of being unusable to work.
The capsules were large enough, the sauna was great. The clothes they give you for the night are also nice.

SingaporeSome of the other guests were quite noisy but that is expected of a capsule hotel.
Location was really close to the train station, very convenient for travelling. Staff were helpful and clear in their instructions. Most capsule hotels have really tiny locker rooms but this one was big enough.

JapanSauna is only available to men - women's showers are clean and nice, but no sauna. Lockers are slim - full height but not meant for luggage (even a backpack is tricky). There is a room for suitcases, but the lockers are only good for hanging a few things. Daily 'check-out' period - you need to have all of your belongings out of your capsule from 10-2 (regardless of if you're staying multiple nights). This is a daily cleaning period. You're able to keep your belongings in the locker/luggage room but you will not be able to enter past the lobby until you are checked back in, so make sure you have everything you need for the day.
Comfortable and sturdy beds - no creaking, good size, solid privacy curtain, equipped with a clock, TV, circulation fan. Nice shower area - plenty of showers, good water pressure/temperature, lots of mirror area with tissues and outlets for use. Good location - around the corner from at least 2 different konbini chains, easy walking distance to lively food/fun neighborhood, near a post office, not too far from Yokohama station (the walk is flat).

United StatesFor some the lockout period between 10 am - 2 pm could be problematic, especially if you just want to stay and chill in bed. But note that this is how most true capsule hotels work. If you understand that the place is also meant for day use or as a place for locals to spend a few hours at night and there's a lot of maintenance and cleaning done, this is fine. What would be nice is if you had the option to not have your bed cleaned each day and can keep stuff in your capsule. Unfortunately, everything has to be removed and stored in your locker or in the luggage room. Both rooms are also separate from the capsule room so you sort of always have to go back and forth between them to retrieve things. Again, not problem for a short stay, but for backpackers visiting Yokohama for a few days, this can be annoying.
Amazing spot and quite comfortable considering there are 30-60 beds in the two male capsule rooms. The capsules themselves have a charge point, light controls, ventilation control and a tv with headphones. The bathhouse and sauna that's part of it (just for Men only) was amazing and clean. I enjoyed using this every evening after a long day exploring the city. I loved that there's a cold bath as well. There's no kitchen, but there's a vending machine for drinks and hot water provided. Location is so close to everything so there's no problems getting around anywhere or eating even late at night.

United StatesThe sitting area was just a little small and congested. It seems to be a busy place and they should incorporate more sitting areas. Also, it seems very easy for the men to come up the stairs near the women’s room. Also, the capsule was just way too hot, you should provide fans because I asked the front desk to make it cooler and it did not help.
I like how convenient it is

GermanyI'm talking about female floor. If you have more than a bag with you, there isn't really a safe way to keep it upstairs. There is a room for baggage, but it is open to everyone. It also happens that when you want to get to your locker, which is quite small, there are too many people blocking it. Your belongings have to be taken with and can not be left in the bed, which is understandable because of cleaning, but as the locker is pretty small... it is a nuisance. Especially because you have to be gone after 10 am. (And it was mentioned by the website, but just a reminder: onsen etc. is only for men. Knew it, still didn't appreciate it) It is really good for just staying two nights while on a trip, but if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in and not be bound to specific time frames of being able to access your luggage... maybe another accommodation would be better.
The location was close to Yokohama Station and directly next to a 7eleven. The facilities were clean and everything needed was provided. The beds, for my taste, were comfortable.
