Kevin was an absolute delight to treat with. He helped us secure tickets to the 185th edition of Kamowaga Odori. The check-in and check-out were a breeze. The place is comfortable and spacious.

Kevin was extremely helpful and very informative. He helped us with any minor things we came across and even dropped us to the station on his own car. Can recommend the place to anyone who likes a clean, quiet, and comfortable place in a walking distance to everything.

Rooms at the back have no view but you can open the window and ventilate.

Location on a pretty canal, very peaceful, convenient for walking to old town and station. Great traditional Japanese wet room. Price very good for location.

I loved everything about this accommodation. Starting from Kevin who was an amazing host, welcoming, kind and helped us with a lot of staff. Thank you! I really liked our room with a traditional atmosphere and I was surprised by how spacious and clean it was. The hotel has an elevator and is located in a charming, quiet neighbourhood. Only 20 minutes on foot from the Kyoto Station and the same distance from Gion district. Thank you for having us, definitely will visit next time!

Honestly, I can't wait to go back. I don't think we had anything we were disappointed with in this property.

This property was ideally located along a stream and one block away from the river. It was such a beautiful and peaceful space. The rooms were large and came with slippers, the beds comfortable, and each had its own little kitchenette. There was also a tatami room! Kevin, the host at the front, was always so warm and welcoming. He was accommodating anytime we had questions. The property was centrally located and less than a 10-minute walk to the subway. And about 25 minute walk door-to-door for the Shinkansen train (Kyoto Station). One note for calling a cab via the Go app or Uber: use the Ume-yu 梅湯 as the pickup/dropoff location as the street is VERY narrow, and often cabs have a hard time navigating it.

The guest house was immaculate and Kevin at the desk was so helpful with ensuring our delayed baggage was delivered to us. The location is very central and next to a charming canal.

Rooms took a long time to get warm as aircon was rather weak to heat the room.

We booked at short notice and that did not work so well so rather book well in advance. Rooms were very cold as they had not been occupied for some days as it seems. Aircon heating took about a day to bring up the temperature. Warm blankets were provided though so no major issue for the first night.

Very nice location in a quite side street in a residencial area. Close to the river. Nice restaurants and bars in walking distance. Nice rooms with separate shower and toilet. Some rooms on floor 3 and 4 with river view. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Hatsune is a very nice affordable hotel—perfect for us and our travels. We don’t spend much time in our hotels, but having a comfortable room with a luxurious soaking tub after a long day of walking and crowds is just perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful (not on site 24 hours) and the location is a short walk down through river from Gion, and easily walkable from Kyoto station. It is on a very narrow one way street so be careful asking taxis to drive all the way to the door, if their car is standard width it can be a very tight fit getting by!
