Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNothing, it was perfect
It was a lovely place to relax while cycling, amazing facilities, super clean, very comfortable, had great common areas to hangout and interact with other travellers (even had a bunch of manga to read including all of slam dunk). The staff were amazing, super accommodating and very friendly, despite arriving very wet from the rain, they helped me be comfortable and relax. The cafe downstairs is also a lovely thing to have here, I didn’t need or want to leave this place at all during the duration of my stay, I was able to meet and interact with some other lovely people there and it was overall an amazing experience. 10/10

JapanWe cycled the Shimanami Kaido from Imabari to Omishima and stayed for a night. The accommodation is really close to the famous Oyamazumi Shrine (the netflix show 'Let's Get Divorced' had a scene here). Lawson is right around the corner too. Not hotel related but if you're cycling, it's a good 25-minute uphill cycle, so brace yourself for it. But when you return to the "main" area where Roadside Station Tatara Shimanami Park is, then you'll enjoy the smooth ride down.

Australiabeautiful guesthouse. simple contemporary Japanese design. very comfortable beds. excellent shared bathroom facilities. great location. staff were excellent. we had a small double room 1 night and then had the family room on our 2nd night. both rooms were great. teh family room is beautiful - huge, elegant Japanese design, very comfortable beds. It also has a cafe which is funky and great food. We used this as a 2 night base during our Shiminamo Kaido bike ride and spent a full day cycling around the island. great way to stretch out the ride. our day ride on the island was incredibly peasceful. A couple of good local restuarants and a local brewery within a couple of minutes walk. Amazing temple/shrine complex just over the road.

United KingdomNot en suite - but knew that before we booked.
Friendly welcoming staff, clean, close to temple, museums and eateries. Recommend Kitsune no Botan nearby for food (difficult to find as no western signage, but worth the effort - staff/owners very helpful and food delicious).

United StatesNothing really - it's a great place.
The whole guesthouse was very clean and well-cared for. The kitchen area was small but was very well-equipped and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful - really made us feel welcome and answered all our questions. And the cafe attached to the guesthouse served good food - nice to have it available right there after a long bike ride to get there.

AustraliaA great place to stay in the middle of the shimanami kaido! An extremely comfortable room in a cool little place, with great shower facilities and communal rooms to chill out in at the end of a day. Just a one minute walk from the gorgeous Oyamazumi Shrine-- do check out its sword museum! I wish I could have spent a few more days here.

Hong KongNothing of note.
I stayed here while cycling the Shimanami Kaido over 2 days. The accommodation is very close to the Oyamazuni Shrine (within 1-2 minutes' walk) - definitely a must-visit if you are staying here. There is also a Lawson's nearby and a bathhouse within 10-15 minutes' walk. The staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. There is an indoor hut to store bicycles. But a note of warning to cyclists, there is quite a long, steep hill to reach here which may be a bit tough for beginners.
