Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe whole property is gorgeous! Yuki is an amazing host who makes you feel at home straight away and helps you with anything you might need. We had the best time being able to get a more authentic experience of Japan and could have stayed for ages!

SingaporeThe location in this beautiful remote area of kinoki is also the tricky part, as buses to kinoki center are infrequent, it’s best for people who have a car or would use the bicycle (as I did) . It’s recommended to check beforehand if the bicycles are available.
It’s a cozy cottage near by the sea, the owner yuko is friendly and prepares amazing miso soup for breakfast.

SpainNothing too serius, but it is a little far from Kinosaki by foot, specially if you need to make the trip multiple times. I would recommend not being stubborn like I was, and try to plan your trip around the bus timetable, or ask the owner to take you by car once in a while... or don't, and rack up those daily steps ;)
It's a very cozy house with a very friendly cat, next to a beautiful onsen town :) It is a little far from the nearest supermarket, but you can order food at the accomodation, so that's very convenient. The whole vive is very friendly and positive, and I had a great time getting to know my roommates while enjoying the beauty of the area.

CanadaA ways out of town but if you can organize a ride through the owner or borrow one of the 2 bikes it's actually an awesome location near the sea side.
Great place near the beach.

AustraliaWe had the best stay at Yuko`s guesthouse near Kinosaki Onsen. Yuko is extremely friendly and cooks up the most amazing food. The property is located close to Kinosaki Onsen and it is easy to get there using the bikes provided or the local bus system. The area surrounding the property is beautiful and quiet. We would love to come back one day!!

AustraliaIt is a bit far out of town and so consideration of transport to and from needs to be taken into consideration. The house is not far from the beach and coastal area.
The staff were very friendly and helped with transport into Kinosaki.

United StatesLocation. Buses are infrequent so plan ahead. You do not want to walk from Kinosaki trust me. However I believe I could have scheduled a ride to be picked up from Kinosaki!
Very friendly, went on an off time so it was quiet. Offered cold beers at a good price. Nice quiet area to walk. I believe rides are available if you schedule them prior. Spoke English.

AustraliaMy stay was fantastic - the hosts offered to pick me up from the train station, and also drove me to and from the town centre when I wanted to visit the local onsen. I spent the evening getting to know the hosts and the other travellers around the fireplace. The share room was really comfortable as well. Thank you !

We had a great stay. Yuko is such a great host, friendly. She helped us out with getting around and made a very tasty breakfast, can highly recommend that. You can borrow bikes and it is a peaceful place to enjoy after being to the onsens in Kinosaki Onsen.

United StatesThe property is just a bit far away but it wasn’t a problem, actually an advantage. Be careful with the road. Use a light when walking at night.
The rooms were traditional and there was a cozy clean atmosphere. Yuko provided us with bikes and helmets to get to kinosaki and explore around, which was very helpful! Hideya is about a 30 minutes bike ride from kinosaki onsen but the surrounding area is so beautiful and quiet! She is so nice!!!

United KingdomI stayed here with a friend while I was visiting Kinosakionsen, Yuko and her family were extremely nice and welcoming! The house was beautiful, homely and had everything we needed, it was exactly as the name implied. The town and surrounding area are a must to see in Japan and if and when I return, I will definitely stay again! It's slightly further from the town center, so it's perfect for cycling and sightseeing, I recommend to anyone visiting Kinosakionsen!

NetherlandsNothing, really.
The friendliness of the hosts. We were picked up in Kinosaki and then taken to the hostel. I was very sick and didn't bring any medical supplies. She gave me some ibuprofen. The following day, she also agreed to bring us all the way to Genbudo Park.

United StatesIf you are staying here to go to the Onsens in town it is a 50 minute walk or 20 minute bicycle ride. Sometimes the host can drive you into town for small fee. Cab ride is $1800 yen. 10/23 Shared bathroom but no problem during our stay.
Near the sea /beach Yuko is a wonderful host, made us great Japanese breakfast. Drove us into town when needed. Rooms were spacious. Gave us extra trip up to the top of the Mountain for the view.

United StatesIf you don’t have transportation, just know it is a ten minute drive to the town. The host can give you a ride, but it’s a bit too far to easily walk.
Very affordable ryokan close to the onsen! Free parking and a room big enough to fit our family of four. Downstairs kitchen and dining table made it easy to have dinner and breakfast. It was also very quiet. Loved the cat, too!
