Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe staff at reception were incredibly slow. It took over 30 minutes to check in. Compared to other hotels we have stayed in, this was very disappointing.
Good sized room. Close to restaurants and Matsuyama castle.

AustraliaNot an issue for us but bed was firm (which some may not like) We found it comfortable nonetheless. Restaurant is a separate (Italian restaurant) business downstairs. A good selection of food for breakfast but no cereal if that's what you prefer.
Well appointed hotel in a very central location. Nippon Rent-a-car directly opposite, which was very handy for car pick-up. Enjoyed our stay here. Not much English spoken by staff.

JapanWe were only there for one night, family of five with three kids under seven. The room was so spacious and we had a good rest. No comment on anything else really as we were just passing through during our travels. (pictures of room view)

JapanUpgrade or change to larger room was too expensive. They charged me 5,000¥ extra per night for me and my 6 year old. And the room was with a view of the elevator parking structure at the hotel. At next hotel in Hiroshima, they charged me 1,500 yen per for upgrade to twin room. outrageous. Breakfast at the Italian restaurant downstairs was too crowded. No social distancing and of course masks come off while eating. A staff filling a dish sneezed while doing so, though through the mask, onto the food. customers could be seen or heard coughing and sneezing throughout the meal. poor covid prevention protocol.
Room was spacious after requesting change to twin room. Great location. Restaurant was fantastic, though menu was kinda limited. Breakfast at the same restaurant was decent.

United KingdomThe only minor complaint I had is that the breakfast room gets pretty crowded, and in some cases you may have to wait a short while to enter.
The room itself was very nice, and was pretty spacious. The bed was large, and a second pillow is provided in the room as standard (meaning you don't have to ask!). The staff are polite and professional, too. The hotel itself is in a great location next to Okaido tram station, and nearby the base of the castle. The breakfast selection was pretty decent - they had good croissants and coffee. If I returned to Matsuyama, I would definitely stay here.

SingaporeVery good location close to the main shopping area and also many restaurants around. Matsuyama castle is also close by and Dogo Onsen just a few tram stations away. Functional but smaller room as typical for that kind of hotel in Japan. Good value for money in my opinion for a short stay. The staff speaks some English.

GermanyFirst up: The three-bed-room was an absolute no-go. With the added bed the whole room - which may have been nice as a twin room - became simply cramped. It was not a pleasant experience. Secondly, the laundry machines with integrated dryers need maintainance. They took forever and ultimately did not dry. You could dry the laundry forever and it was still not dry. So people did try to dry their laundry forever, making it hard for others to gain access to a machine until late at night.
The bathroom facilities were nice and spacy.

JapanThe beds, although good sized were very uncomfortable. Hard and kind of lumpy in spots. It was difficult to get a good sleep because of the hard mattress. The staff weren’t very friendly bar 1. Having confirmed that my booking was for an adult and 3 children with their ages I was surprised that there were only two pillows. I asked the staff for two more and was asked what I intended to use them for!? I replied they were for my children to sleep on and then I was told that I had to go back down to the front desk to get them. In every other hotel the staff has always brought pillows or towels to our room. Not sure why this wasn’t the case here. The video on demand system had very few options but extremely limited for kids so not worth it. The breakfast was good but the restaurant was small so space was limited and it was difficult to adequately social distance.
The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom was great. Separate toilet and separate vanity as well as separate shower with bath and lockable door stood out for me. Complimentary bottled water was a nice touch. The hotel itself seems rather new and the room was spotless. Wi-if didn’t require a password which made things easy. Great location. Could easily walk to the rope way station. Lawson convenience store a few doors down as well as restaurants all within easy walking distance. Public transport right in front.
