Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaThe train station wasn't too far away but still required some walking. The window didn't have shutters IIRC.
The hotel was close to the rock-splitting cherry tree and Iwate Park. Breakfast was delicious and decent in terms of Muslim-friendliness - the grilled mackerel was delicious (assuming it didn't contain mirin). Check out was quite fast.

AustraliaI don’t like the self- service check in/ out. Staff did kindly help us with this, but I would always prefer face to face reception interaction. Importantly, It also helps keep staff in jobs! I also didn’t like that the hotel name was confusing - we thought we were booked into the other Daiwa Hotel, and although it has the physical sign on the building that’s says “Daiwa hotel” it was actually “Daiwa Morioka Eki-Mae”. Of course we went there first, thinking that was our hotel, which was both an inconvenience and disappointing.
It was clean and beautiful, in a good location, close to shops and bars/ restaurants. About 1km walk from the train station.

AustraliaThis hotel was in a great location in Morioka. Restaurants and shops a 1 minute walk. Rooms big by Japanese standards. Staff were extremely helpful.

United StatesThe check-in system is a bit weird. You approach the reception desk to fill out forms (contact information, etc), and then you are asked to proceed to a machine to find out your room number and receive room keys. I never understood why the concierge would not do that during check-in in person. It would have been better if it can be done in one shot.
The staff was very polite just like any other standard Japanese hotel. The location is very good with access to small stores and restaurants in the center of the city. The room cleaning was very good. The best part was coffee, tea, and bath salt service in the lobby.

United States15 to 20 minutes to walk to train station. Typical small Japanese hotel room. No soy milk for breakfast, more limited selections for vegetarians, worse for vegans.
Small room but layout was space efficient. Breakfast had good variety. Self service coin operated laundromat was convenient.

JapanThere was a whirring sound until just after 6am that bothered me. (fridge and air con were switched off) If noise bothers you, just bring earplugs. Staff were there but check-in and check-out were .by machine. At regular hotels staff say ありがとうございました when you leave but the staff just stood at the reception not really noticing us although they looked pretty free? I thought it was strange. The car park was a 1 minute walk, but the pedestrian exit was hard to spot at first and involved going down a number of stone steps which might cause problems for those with mobility issues. The car park cost 1,100yen extra.
Clean room, a modern looking bathroom BS TV Price was really good for a nice clean room like we had. In the middle of the city so good access to restaurants etc. I liked their eco policy where you just collect the things amenities you want rather than having everything put in the room. It leads to less waste. They have microwaves on a couple of floors if you need to heat something up.

ItalyIt had a bit of an impersonal feel, but I guess it is more of a business kind of hotel
The staff at the reception was very helpful, both at the check-in (I had mistakenly booked a room for smokers and they changed it to a non-smoking room) and when I needed to print some documents from the computer in the lobby. The room was very spacious and I also appreciated the laundromat service.

JapanRemember there are two Daiwa Roynet hotels: one close to station, other is 15 minutes away. I was staying at the later. A little far to the station. As long as you don't have to travel back and forth a lot in one day then it's manageable. There are lots to feast for the eye along the way. The bed was big enough for three but missing one pillow -- we didn't ask tho.
Massage chair! Wide genkan area to spread open our suitcases. Very close to the shotengai. Close to the former castle complex.

United StatesNo real negatives, not as nice as the Aomori Daiwa Roynet we stayed at a few days prior though. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
Breakfast was good, not crowded so that was very nice. Hotel staff was courteous and very accomodating, going out of their way to get us a parking place near to the hotel. Location is great, many nice places to eat near the hotel.

VietnamThe hotel is 15-minute walk from Morioka Station, but I'm so glad I chose this hotel. From Morioka Station, you should go to the north exit. To get to the hotel, you will go over a bridge, across Kitakami river, and the scenery is just spectacular. The area is very central with a lot of restaurants and shops. The room size is good compared to other hotels in Japan. I love breakfast here too.

United KingdomStaff were wonderful and extremely helpful in helping getting my luggage forwarded onto another hotel. The room was fairly spacious for a solo traveller, and the amenities bar in the lobby was well stocked. Plenty wash and tumledryers too. Bed was a little hard for my tastes but still perfectly reasonable for sleeping. Location is about a 20minute walk from Morioka station but located centrally for many dining establishments and morioka sights
