Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI wouldn't recommend the dormitory if you are uncomfortable with sleeping in a rather small place
very nice interior, delicious and cheap food and alcohol, 2 min walk to an amazing field of flowers and view on mount Fuji, very cool game room in the basement with a retro famicom and nintendo 64, very nice showers, very nice staff, bikes available for renting, laundry available as well

ChinaThe location is good to see Mount Fuji, but not friendly to a traveler arriving late. The buses in Kawaguchiko area stop running at around 6 or 7 in the afternoon, which is very inconvenient if you don't have a car.
Really relaxing vibe for travelers.

BelgiumI wanted to rent a bike but they were already taken and there is no other bike rental nearby. It’s nothing the hostel can do about it, just a heads up that if you want to be sure to have a bike, you better rent it near the station.
Good location, just next to the Kawaguchiko lake. Stayed there for one night and had a great time. Staff was very helpful.

MexicoIt is not close to the Fujikawaguchiko train terminal. But is easy to get there in a bus.
It has a very good view of the Fuji mount. It’s very close to the terminal bus, so you just need to walk to get into the hostel. And also is the final stop so you don’t need to worry about the stops. Very near to the hostel you can find a beautiful garden, souvenir stores, restaurants, coffee shop and places to eat and enjoy. The personal is very kind and friendly The hostel looks like it’s new, it has a game room And they have bike rental service depending on the availability.

United KingdomNothing bad but might be helpful - the hostel does food till 9pm. It's nothing big so take some snacks from 7 Eleven at the next village along (stop 15). They have cooking facilities and a fridge. The Hostel is stop 20! Also, you need to order breakfast with them 3 days in advance if you didn't book it to be included. Lights go out at 10pm - this isn't a bad thing. It's in a quiet neighbourhood and adds to the cuteness of the place. There is a game rooms downstairs with 2 sofas that you can chill in.
The hostel is the other side of the lake. It's a great spot to see Mount Fuji in all its glory. When it's the evening, there are no tourists, so you literally feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle. The hostel is warm and cosy and the facilities are very clean. The pods are ok for a night or 2. You do get a pull down desk and a light, which was an added bonus. They also provide towels and bedding. And, for 100/200Y you can do your washing and drying. Oh and, they have shampoo/ Conditioner/ body wash! AND, downstairs is a games room with Mario Kart ;)

United KingdomBreakfast is only available if you’ve booked more than 3 days in advance! Which if you’re not aware of this it’s impossible to do, unfortunately booking.com did not inform us of this. However the breakfast didn’t look amazing anyway so not sure we missed out. The nearby convenience store doesn’t have much in it as it’s tiny, and because it’s quite remote there is no place open before 10am for any type of food. Thus I’d recommend bringing your own breakfast as there are facilities available to store/cook food as it’s a hostel. The nearest big convenience store is Lawson’s, 15mins on the bus but buses start at 9.30am and last one of the day is 6.30pm.
The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well finished. Beds are comfy especially compared to other places we stayed in Japan. The hostel is in a lovely location where there are less tourists than other places. Kitchen is available should you wish to cook. The evening food at the hostel is reasonably priced and not bad as there aren’t loads of places within walking distance to eat at.

BelgiumLocation is not ideal if you come by train; your only option is the bus, until the last stop. I opted for walking and it took me 2.5hours. On a sunny day, I suppose you have good views of mount Fuji, unfortunately for me it was cloudy and raining. No towels provided. Eye mask and earbuds advised if you do not want to be disturbed by other guests.
I liked the effort this hostel does to bring the guests together. There is only one common room where everyone sits (and watches a movie or has dinner) so it's easy to start a conversation with another person. There is a possibility (about 3 dishes to choose from) for dinner (good, since no restaurants in the neighbourhood). Breakfast is also available (though I was glad I brought my own). The hostel looks new, bed bunks are comfortable and quite big and there is a gaming room.

HungaryWe made a reservation for 2 adults and a 5-year-old child, but upon check-in we were told that only the accommodation was free for the child, but not the breakfast. I indicated that this was not in the confirmation, so the next day we received a little compensation from the otherwise not very abundant breakfast for the child. To avoid similar problems in the future, I recommend that you include this in the description of the room or hostel. Otherwise, the breakfast is not very abundant and has a fixed portion per head.
The hostel is in a great location, in a quiet and beautiful area, a few minutes' walk from the lake, cafe and grocery store. The room is clean and well equipped, although the toilet was the smallest I have ever encountered. Perfect for a few days stay.

IndonesiaThere needs to be a little improvement from some of the staff in terms of hospitality, at least starting with smiling more at guests. This may sound trivial but keep in mind this can have an impact on the atmosphere of a stay at Dot Hostel.
I like the atmosphere of the hostel, which is very relaxed and not overcrowded with guests.

QatarI don’t like the idea of making your own bed. It’s very common in Europe but not in Japan, I always stayed in hostel in Japan and this was the first time I have to prepare the bed sheet for myself especially after long trip from Tokyo. The staff switched off the light in the lobby at 10 pm, I had important video call at that time and I needed the light so I went to the game room in the basement but the internet was so bad there and it was so cold (I visited in end of March).
The location is best spot for the mt. Fuji view cause it’s near oishi park and 3 mins walking from bus stop.

United KingdomRoom felt crowded with lots of luggage in it. Pod walls are a lot thinner than others I've experienced so noise during the night wasn't great.
Location is amazing on the far side of the lake, able to reach spots before they get busy. Renting bikes from the hostel was fun.

AustraliaThe parking is a bit far (3 min walk but not ideal when the weather is really cold…) and the curtain is too thin? It feels like everybody can see through inside and see what you are doing in your capsule making not so private.
Really clean and good style. They have everything you need including parking, shower, dryer, toaster, fridge. They also have game room where you can find tons of board games to play with friends.
