How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

So many things to like. It’s a little oasis of calm and beautiful design that stands out from all the rest. We were warmly welcomed upon check in, given a lovely gift on arrival and shown how everything works. Great attention to detail. The hotel is a lovely size, personal without being intrusive. It was the best hotel on our three week travel around Japan. And when we checked out, I was given a beautiful gift with a personal handwritten note. The room was well designed with clever design details for storage etc.

The room was small.
The staff was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. Coffee, tea and juices available all day. Refrigerator was stocked with drinks. Free Udon served at night.

The staff at the hotel were beyond exceptional. I’ve never experienced such amazing service and thoughtfulness anywhere!! Everything was thought of, down to the bath salts, checking how often we wanted housekeeping, the free udon and drinks, and even the little farewell gift. 12/10!!!!

Room a bit small but very comfortable.
This is a great boutique hotel. Beautiful hotel in great location. 11 minute walk from train station, 7 minute walk from Omiya market and 20-30 minute walk to tea district, samurai district , castle and gardens. We didn’t eat here but right across the street from fantastic coffee and late place with wonderful breakfast sandwiches. Make dinner reservations at Fuwari.

The staff were amazing, we had such a warm welcome and feeling of comfort throughout our stay! They were super helpful and accommodating, even helping us organise baggage transfer to our next hotel. The free treats were delicious and we really appreciated them after a long day of trekking around the town. It’s a gorgeous facility, the rooms are very clean and comfortably sized for 2 people and we both slept well. The bathtub was roomy for a Japanese style bathroom. Would highly recommend and hope to come back one day!

Layout of the room - fine for one person but two people with large suitcases will be tight. My room was facing a busy cross road so there was a lot of traffic noise - unfortunately

There was nothing I had a problem with.
Have to choose to include breakfast when making the reservation, but it is well worth it. Breakfast is a variety of small dishes and freshly prepared. Staff is also very welcoming and helpful, rooms are small but comfortable.

This was my favourite hotel in my entire 3 week trip to Japan. The staff were so lovely and friendly and I loved the reception area which was great to work in with free coffee. My room was gorgeous with so many lovely touches. Free noodles after 8pm were a delight too. I LOVED it ! will come again for sure.

We had the family room which we used with 4 persons. It was a bit small, but very comfortable with an excellent bath room. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Location is about 5 minutes from the train station in a quiet area and it's very close to bus stops, but you can also walk to most of the popular places. If you plan to stay a few nights in Kanazawa, book your room here!

Amazing boutique hotel in central Kanazawa, a 10 minutes walk from the train station and a pleasant 20 min stroll from the main sightseeing sites. Rooms are spacious, stylish and extremely clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lot the traditional breakfast and the complementary soba in the evening. Our favourite stay of our Japan trip!

Very nice new small hotel. The room was decent size with Japanese standards. Very nice design, a lot of light wood. Good location, walking distance to the station( if you can roll your bag), walking distance to the samurai district. Nice small restaurants around. The staff was very welcoming, they offer free udon in the evening, all drinks in the room are free including beer. They gave us a small goody bag with sweets at the checkout. We would definitely stay there again.
