Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Room was spacious and has a beautiful Mountain View. And the short walk to the bus terminal allowed me to catch the early morning bus to kamikochi. Having washer/dryer is great for doing my laundry.

NetherlandsThis is a classic ryokan style hotel, with very helpful staff. Upon arrival, you get all the information, and they bring your luggage to your room. The entire hotel is free of shoes: you leave them in a rack near the front door. The rooms are spacious, with a lucious mountain view. Separate toilet and bathroom, fridge, a small tv, yukata and happi coats, and other usual things. They have four private baths you can use freely, a big plus if you want an onsen experience, but don't want to be separated from your other half during bath time. The hotel is away from pretty much everything. We went to the Spring Festival in Takayama, which is a 45 minute drive.

AustraliaTabist was an ideal for us as it was close to the bus interchange and had great views from our room. Whilst the ‘hotel’ is looking tired, it is kept very clean and tidy. Our room was a very big room with a great view. The layout made our stay very comfortable. The laundry was very good. The Onsen gave an option of indoor or outdoor. The location near shops, restaurants and the bakery(exceptional) at the bus interchange made it a very comfortable stay. The hosts made us feel welcomed and nothing was too much trouble.

United StatesThe room was nice, and it had a nice view but the cabinets/doors were stained with some sort of water mark. I found multiple stains throughout the room, which made me a bit hesitant to open the cabinets. Besides that, everything else was fine. Hotel doesnt offer food but they do have a vending machine for beverages.
The onsens were the highlight. Enjoyed the private onsens, both, indoor and outdoor. Was nice they allowed me to stash my bags before, and after, my check in/out times. They also had recommendations to visit for food/drinks. Very nice staff.

AustraliaCarpet needs replacement at the hall, but I think are are already working on some updates. Shower for the outdoor onsen needs to be operational. We just showered inside our room before heading to the onsen.
The view from our room was spectacular! My children enjoyed the outdoor private onsen experience. Futons were comfortable. Heater works perfectly during our stay in mid winter trip. There are restaurants nearby. There's available coin laundry. They managed to give us 2 rooms near each other. There's a toilet and bathroom in each room.

SpainWe stayed in January, which is a cold month (we reached -13C at night). It always felt bit chilly in the room, even with the heater on. Despite of this, it was okay at sleep time, as the duvets did keep us warm. This was the most expensive stay in my 3-week travel in Japan and I think that the value for the money isn't that good. However, it was one of the cheapest when compared to similar hotels in the same town.
The room looked bit old but was spacious, clean and with private bathroom. The hotel is just 3min walk from the bus station. No breakfast available (which was actually fine with us). You can buy coffee for 100jpy at reception and buy some food from the convenience store just in front of the hotel. Otherwise, you can find a large coffee shop right next the bus station. Also, the large outdoor onsen was closed for maintenance at the time we stayed. Instead, we accessed the small one, which was lovely! The lady from reception adjusted the temperature for us, as it was too hot and the experience was really nice!

Nice traditional rooms with AC heating, very spacious, private onsen was a nice feature even tough it's very outdated and shower areas are quite moldy.
