Returned to bring my family. My new favorite hotel. I WILL return with other guests. Everything exceeds expectations. Thanks, Chef, for the great Waygu burger! Management, for Kyoto sightseeing recommendations and attentive service. You know how to refine great guest experiences.

Beautiful design and architecture. Great location. Cool neighborhood. Professional attentive staff. Great food and bar. (Breakfast on roof patio is a must do!) Well connected to outside services and restaurants. Attention to our needs.

It would have been better if we had more days to enjoy our stay!

Everything! We went as a special occasion for my wife’s birthday and it was an absolutely perfect experience! The staff were all bilingual, friendly and anticipated our needs. They made us an amazing cake for her birthday and were gracious, even when we ordered room service out of the normal hours. The bartender was super cool and all the food unique and delicious. The chef even came out to attend to our needs. The lobby with Japanese garden was beautiful and had sophisticated design details that allowed you to feel connected to nature. At the same time, it was comfortable to relax in and just spend some time at the bar. The hanging globes of bonsai lamps were eye-opening! We stayed in a river room with a balcony, which was obviously designed to accentuate the stunning views of the river and the mountains. The attention to detail at every level was amazing! The beds were perfect with all controls at your fingertips, there was a beautifully designed desk, a sleek table for dining, and amazing chairs that made sitting on tatami a surprisingly comfortable experience. There were even 2 exquisite small rock gardens in the room and bathroom to bring in light and allow for a deep sense of connectivity to nature - even in your room! The hotel's architect told me that they used techniques like this specifically to achieve a true Japanese experience , since such gardens have over a 1200 year history in Japan and serve to increase the connectivity between interior and exterior. This, I feel was one of the main reasons the hotel feels so Japanese- they really got this one right! They even were able to pull this off in the hallways, which are usually the most boring experience - not here! The ultimate experience was the roof garden, where we enjoyed our birthday celebration and even had a sunrise breakfast! And the burgers we had there was phenomenal. Later I found out they make their buns there fresh!!!

There was nothing that we were unhappy about. The staff were really nice to us.

We stayed in a garden view room on the first floor. It was a beautiful garden. Green with a very Japanese feel. Our bed was comfortable, the bathrobes were nice, and there was everything we need. Wi-fi, speakers, desk, sofa and even a dining table. What we loved the most was the rooftop garden. It has a forest feel and great views.

It was so relaxing in the hotel that we almost didn't want to go out, so a longer stay would have been better. We need more time to go sightseeing AND enjoy some serenity on the amazing roof garden.

The hotel is beautiful, our room is comfortable and we love the gardens. We had one Western and one Japanese set for breakfast and they were both delicious. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us neighborhood maps and excellent suggestions for where to go. We totally enjoyed our stay. This hotel is great value for money. Will definitely come back.

I wouldn’t really recommend staying here with kids. We took a large room but every time anyone went to the bathroom it woke everyone up. There’s no way to block out the light as it streams in from the bathroom and in the evening the room is very dim. It seems there was more thought to form (which was incredible) than to function. The breakfast and drinks and cheese plate we had there were all overpriced and underwhelming. No subway nearby.

Truly beautiful property. So many stunning touches and all very high quality. The beds were incredibly comfortable, including the futons the kids slept on, the sheets were lovely and the room was very well appointed. Also loved the details in the bathroom. The staff were amazingly sweet and made every effort for us. Great bikes to borrow and nice area by the river if a bit sleepy…

A bit distant from sightseeing and entertainments.

Very beautiful and comfortable hotel with friendly staffs. Breakfast at the roof top was excellent. Beautiful interior and zen life style hotel. Highly recommended for a couple to get away from busy lives and to relax!

There were some dirts n a few pieces of hair in bed…only found out when we have done shower n ready to sleep…

It’s a little out of the way from Kyoto station. You can take a local bus, or it’s about a $10 taxi ride from the station to the hotel. Not too bad, just something to prepare for.

Absolutely gorgeous and extremely clean. The receptionists are so welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with everyone! The food provided by the hotel is exceptional. We ate in our room for a few meals and really enjoyed the convenience and quality. We were also able to enjoy a few meals in the rooftop garden. Great location, we rode bikes up and down the river to get around.
