Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesN/A, there was nothing I didn't like!
Location is peaceful and quiet, definitely recommend renting a car to get there. In between mountains the famous gassho Kukuri villages, onsen, few restaurants. Hosts were super helpful and kind with great recommendations. Wonderful view from the room and weather was perfect plus blankets are nice and thick! Definitely recommend whether traveling by yourself or with someone else.

ItalyWe had a great time at Takazuri Guest House, we felt very welcome from the very beginning. The hosts Kota and Kanako are very lovely and take good care of their guests and their son Taichiro is so cute. We had great conversations with the hosts and other guests. Breakfast and dinner are offered, vegetarian/vegan options are also available. Shirakawa-go, Suganuma and Ainokura are easily accessible by World Heritage Bus and there is the opportunity to experience onsen nearby. We would definitely book the accommodation again and are happy to recommend it to others.🤩🤩🤩

IsraelWe could hear everything happening all around the house from our room, so it was an issue when we tried to fall asleep. In addition, the light was on in the adjacent room, and it brightened ours as well, which also bothered us when sleeping. It's important to bring food as we couldn't find any open restaurants or convenience stores.
The hosts were incredibly kind and heartwarming, as well as helpful when needed. We felt very welcomed. The house is beautiful and cozy. The shared kitchen was well equipped. The village is lovely, remote but quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.

ThailandWe, four people, stayed in a shared room with eight people, including one Japanese or Korean individual. In the room, one person made a lot of noise both before going to bed and in the morning. They loudly gathered their belongings and chatted loudly until we woke up. We felt that we didn't get enough sleep. Dealing with roommates' issues can be difficult, and I understand that. Next time, I will consider renting a room for my family only, accommodating all eight of us.
The accommodation location is excellent. The room has a very beautiful view. The hosts are very friendly and take good care of us. The room is clean, the bathroom is clean. I'm sorry we only stayed for one night. I still want to stay here a little longer. If we have the opportunity, we will definitely come back again. Initially, I was worried because it was our first time driving in the snow in Japan. But the route was very convenient and not difficult to drive at all. If you're considering staying here, don't hesitate. The view is stunning, and you have to see it with your own eyes.

JapanThey have many bathrooms, a lounge room and a small kitchen. I was staying alone that night so they upgraded me to a private room for no cost. They also offered to drive me to the bus stop, I found it very kind and thoughtful. The family is very kind, the place is very clean and the environment is very cozy, I am very glad I visited them.

CanadaNothing to dislike.
Kota and Kanako were excellent hosts and super friendly. They have a toddler full of life who will make your day bright. The facilities are impeccable. The location is excellent for exploring the area by foot or by car. Central to two of the main UNESCO Heritage Sites, Suganuma and Ainokura villages! The food was healthy and delicious and they used a lot of their own produce. The lounge is also a great place to relax after a day of exploring. Highly recommend.

United StatesOwners were very friendly and recommended some fantastic local onsen. Pickup and drop-off from nearby bus stop made the trip accessible even without a car. Japanese style breakfast (available for small additional fee at check-in) was delicious. We wish we would have stayed a two or three nights instead of just one.

FranceThe only difficult point is that the area is remote so the nearest bus station is a bit far and uphill if you are on foot. Our rental car was cancelled, so Kota has kindly proposed to pick us up from/drived us back to the nearest bus station and even from our dinner. We appreciated it massively!!
Kota and his wife were exceptional with us, overly kind, helpful and cheerful. The house was super clean, in the nature, they have a big common room where you can relax and order breakfast, snacks, drinks and they even have some dinner options. We have booked the tradiotional tatami beds.

SpainIt is our second time there! :) The hosts are super nice and they took care of all of us. We felt very well looked after! The guesthouse is located some minutes driving to Ainokura old village and it is so beautiful. You can trully feel the spirit of traditional Japan there :) I remembered they offered snacks, but I didn't know it was possible to have dinner too. I would like to try it next time! :) The three snacks we ordered (popcorn, grape and nut cake and bear ham) were delicious :)
