It was hands down the best hotel during this trip, and totally exceeded our expectations - the room was quite large and luxurious and the location was perfect. We loved our stay there and will definitely stay there again if we're in Kyoto.

Beautiful hotel - great location in Gion but very quiet in hotel itself. The room was beautifully decorated, great bathroom with huge bath and shower, and face masks/skin care provided. The stocked mini fridge and snacks provided were much appreciated after our travels! Staff were friendly and helpful, and although English was not great we managed with a translation app.

Location was perfect surrounded by old atmospheric streets. Room luxurious and many additional items like drinks, extensive bathroom extras, massage chair. The decor is exquisite. A fusion of traditional Japanese and modern.

Not the fault of the hotel, but it was a bit inconvenient getting a taxi/GO because of the crowds of tourists blocking the street (especially if you had to get somewhere on time)

This was such a lush hotel and so so quiet, definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed. Beautiful mix of traditional and modern designed interiors. The room was stunning, such a comfrotable bed and amazing bathroom. Loved all the complimentary bathroom products as well as snacks and drinks.

I wish we had known about the 4th floor lounges. We wanted to explore where the spas were, and found really lovely lounge areas.

The staff were very accommodating, and although we knew very little Japanese and they knew very little English, we were able to communicate with some help from a translation app. The location couldn't have been better: Close to temples and the Gion District. Wonderful kaiseki restaurant one block away, Jikiba Ono.

I read about this in other reviews but was not able to verify myself - apparently there might be some un-renovated rooms left (it’s the only explanation for why this hotel is rated as a 3-star because it is objectively not) so be sure to request a renovated one in your reservation. It made me nervous that I would show up to an un-renovated one, but fortunately ours was renovated and amazing.

The hotel is recently renovated so it balances modern and traditional beautifully. Rooms were big and every detail was thought out for both luxury and functionality - comfortable beds, beautifully carved headboard, multiple light settings, a lot of storage, airplay on the TV, complimentary water and noodles, and ours had a massage chair (upgraded room). The bathroom was magical - Massive clean tub with a TV, luxurious bath products including face masks, The location was unbeatable — in the heart of Gion but not noisy. All of the staff was very hospitable, making excellent recommendations and reservations for us. This truly was a 5 star experience for us and made our visit to Kyoto even more special.

Loved the interior and the lobby . The rooms were very comfortable and had a very Japanese vibe. The location was great, near kyomizu-dera. And there were many buses nearby. Overall, it was a great stay with very accommodating and helpful staff.

Not a big deal for me as it was a short stay, but the hotel doesn't have an on-site restaurant and/or bar. But they do provide free drinks in the room's minibar (which you can have refilled by calling the front desk).

This hotel was absolutely gorgeous! Unassuming from outside, but from the moment you descend in the lift, it opens up into this beautiful mix of modern and traditional interiors that I did not expect at all! The room was even more of a pleasant surprise, with an ante-room for our bags and shoes, a spacious living area with kitchen appliances discreetly hidden in a closet, and the best part - a jacuzzi with a tv screen and a separate shower.
