How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfect for a family. The room was spacious and very Japanese. The cooking utensils were basic but all the basic spices and oils were available by the reception which was handy. One could also get toys and board games on loan. There is a big supermarket literally 2 minutes away in a mall. Kyoto station is a short walk away and one can take a train or buses to all main sights easily. We really enjoyed our week staying there.

Would have been even better to borrow a baby crib but they only had travel sized small ones (I have a big baby!) so I rented this privately.
Everything was fantastic. The staff, the fact you can borrow bits like a baby potty or extra toys and cooking utensils, the quietness, the size of the apartment, the location - these were all fantastic.

Extremely friendly staff and a great location from which to explore Kyoto. It was only a short distance from Kyoto station and had a great shopping centre and supermarket next to it.

Great location, large enough to accommodate our family of 5. Good proximity to Kyoto station. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. This was our second stay here. The manager Yugo is fantastic.

You could hear the street noise a bit
Great location and lots of room in the apartment. Close to Kyoto train station and next door to a mall, staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean and comfortable.

Staff are excellent, very helpful, especially thanks to Yugo and Jacob, they provided information regarding the nice restaurant at the local area and answer to our endless questions. The most comfortable place to stay, convenience location. The property provided everything that suits for family stay, we can cook, eat and drink at the place. And the convenience facility for washing and dry clothes is amazing. Will definitely want to return to this lovely place.

Close to Kyoto Station with lots of shops and restaurants. The staffs made the difference: they tried their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

Yugo (the manager) and his team were very welcoming, and definitely went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Yugo followed up for me about some lost property I had left on a train, and was very helpful. The room was quite large, and well stocked. The location was great - easy access to Kyoto station and a local line, and next door to a large shopping centre including supermarket.

Staff were amazing, location is perfect, just footsteps from Aeon Mall, and 5-7 min from Kyoto Station. Our luggage was accepted early and were in our room when we arrived. Staff also really went out of their way sending our luggage to our next hotel. Facility is perfect, we had a lot of space for our family of 4, able to wash our laundry, and comfy beds!
