Meals were not what we had grown accustomed to at ryokans.

A very basic ryokan that is a good solution for those visiting the gasso villages and who want to stay overnight in the area. Onsen was nice.

    Food is average.

Nice place to see both the Gassho villages and drive to Kanazawa for a day trip. Big outdoor bath.

Everything was great! Some parts of the ryokan looked a little old, but that's part of the charm.

Nice traditional ryokan in a beautiful village in the mountains, close to World Heritage Villages Ainokura, Suganuma and Shirakawago. The staff were very kind and helpful, and agreed to change our meals when we contacted them and told them we are vegetarians. We stayed in a clean, traditional Japanese style room with a mountain view and had full access to the ryokan's onsen bath (with a warm and cold bath as well as sauna inside, and a warm bath outside).

I love this secluded hotel in the mountains! The hotel has a retro style but is very clean. The meals are included and are excellent. During my stay, I had the onsen practically all to myself and I enjoy the outdoor onsen looking out into the forest the most!

Staff at reception was very friendly and efficient. They even performed a song and dance in the evening even tho the hotel didn't have many guests. Rooms were nicely renovated and clean. Dinner and breakfast were adequate. Enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor baths. Good value for a very relaxing stay. Thank you to the staff at the hotel who contributed to a very pleasant stay.

The corridor leading to the lift before going to the female onsen was rather chilled. It will be good to have the heater on. There are some beetle found in the room but it's harmless.

I have a wonderful stay in Gokasanso. The location is centralised and ideal to visit all Gassho house Heritage site. The meals are not boring as the chef will not repeat the same dishes for my 4 days stay in Gokasanso. I like the staff giving us dance performances of Kokiriko. It is a memorable experience.

    Can't think of anything

Great location for those wishing to see the Gassho farmhouses off the beaten path. Welcoming staff and a little show for tourist on certain nights. Price included two wonderful meals in common area with other guests - two seating options for both breakfast and dinner. Enjoyed the outdoor onsen and parking was very convenient.

Not a fan of Japanese breakfast and some of the dinner wasn't to my liking. No bathroom - only toilet - was a surprise, meaning you had to use the onsen - which was great, but maybe not for everyone?

We loved the onsen, the room, the view

No private bathroom Meals were included in the price (which wasn’t cheap) but they did not have enough vegetarian and vegan options, although they really tried. The location of the hotel was a bit too far for us

The hotel is located on a mountain with a great view. The room was quite big but had no private bathroom only toilet. However there was a public bath which was very nice.

No choice of time for dinner (6pm) even though the hotel was quite empty. A lot of hair in the shower part of the onsen

Large ryokan, close to ainokura. We had dinner and breakfast, which were good. Large free parking. Rooms are spacious. Onsen with inside and outside baths and beautiful views of the mountains. Very quiet

Breakfast is quite early (latest 07:45). Building was quite old. There is not much to do in the neighbourhood.

Dinner was great experience, with the Yakuta clothing. In the evening they have a little cultural dance act. Onsen was a nice experience.
