How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Not being able to open a window was about the only thing.
Wonderful location close to the station and sights such as Shibuya Sky, Scramble Square and the Hachiko Statue, at first it was a bit difficult to find due to construction in the area. I was not very happy with the size of my room at first but the staff was very helpful in finding a suitable room for me and the fee for it was not too bad.

It was nearly perfect (and my only complaint might be a little over critical) but the room felt a little dingy. I'm not saying it was dirty, I think it might just be from age/wear. You could argue it gives it more character, and maybe I'm just used to hotels that have that overly sterile vibe. I would still absolutely stay there again.
Staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. Location was ideal! It was very affordable. Having a fridge in the room was very helpful. The water pressure was ridiculously awesome, and it stayed very hot.

Some rooms are small.
Location was very good. Staff were very helpful. For a very central hotel it was quiet. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and supplied with everything we needed.

Small rooms.
The staff are very helpful, very friendly. The location is good - on a quiet road in Shibuya, but close to restaurants and train station. The room we stayed in was small but it had everything we needed, was kept very clean for us, and was exceptionally quiet! The luggage storage for a couple of hours after check out was greatly appreciated.

The hallways smelt mouldy, there was a lightbulb missing in the room, and I ultimately wished multiple toilet rolls were provided as we had to request for toilet paper rolls a few times to ultimately be given regular tissue.
The location was great - close enough to Shibuya Station but far enough to ensure that the hotel and room was quiet. Although the rooms were small it was manageable.

A bit hard to find. Not much signage around. When you’re having a shower the water gets on the bathroom floor. Curtain isn’t adequate width. Room is only ideal for one person as glass separates the bathroom and bed. You have to step up into the bathroom. Won’t be good with someone with bad knees. Room is tiny.
Staff were friendly. I was able to store luggage before check in and after checkout. Close to where I needed to go. You can walk different directions to get there. Not far from the Shibuya station.

i sent a shirt to be laundered, when i went to pay they wanted to charge me double ¥1200, claiming i had sent a suit. the front desk person accussed me of lying and said laundry service could not make a mistake. i spent ¥13,500 for the room so the ¥600 extra was not about the money. very unhappy woth how this was handled

Slightly difficult to find for first time visitors. Small but typical room for Japan single. A/C was locked on Heat so the room was too warm, and the window did not open. Only one bath towel + hand towel provided in room. Only 2 electrical outlets so it was difficult to plug everything in to charge.
Great location near Shibuya station. Clean room, comfortable bed. Two pillows. In-room refrigerator and (small) safe. Air cleaner provided.
