Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe public bath was small.
Very cozy. Staff were professional and kind. They are in a rural area but they are renovating and have taken great effort to implement modern technology and comforts. Rooms were small for 2 people but plenty for 1. Everything you need is provided for. There is a conbini across the road and a Pokémon Go gym within range😁 breakfast wasn’t huge but enough diversity and everything was fresh and delicious.

United KingdomThe staff were friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and the hotel was in a good location - there's a Lawson across the road, and there are drink vending machines in the hotel itself. There are also some good sights nearby - the Akita Inu museum and Odate castle ruins are a short walk away.

JapanSlightly out of the location but an easy bus to the main station, or train if the timetable allows.
The staff were so friendly and helpful it was such a nice welcome. The free drinks were really good, much more than usual! Easy and quick lifts, great onsen, quick check in and out and the room layout was good too. Plenty of space for two, extremely comfortable beds, dark curtains and nice amenities.

Room was large and view over the mountains on the horizon was awesome.

United StatesI was confused with the Onsen and the code to access the onsen. I also didn't know I was supposed to wear the PJs they provide and slippers to go to the onsen. All cultural things, but it would be nice if they had a little brochure about Onsen culture and what is expected lol 1) Onsen is available for both females and Males. Females require an access code to enter to the female's onsen. Male's Onsen access does not have a code. 2) Wear the PJs and slippers to the Onsen. There is a locker room where you can take off your clothes and then access the Onsen. 3)Bathing and sitting on the little stools etc before going into the onsen. Thank you so much! We loved staying at your hotel!
We went to see the Akita Dogs. The Hotel dogs are assigned to two properties and were not at the hotel when we visited, but the staff was very helpful and provided information on where we could see them.

JapanLocation from Odate station is a bit far
The staff were very friendly. They have a microwave which I really liked since you can buy any food in lawson(just in front of the hotel) and just reheat there. The room is a little bit bigger than you would imagine in a province area. Breakfast is okay.

United StatesThe hotel staff was excellent and attentive. I requested a blanket and was give a top-quality wool blanket. The onsen was very nice with keyed entry. Parking was free and adjacent to the hotel. There is a fantastic restaurant across from the hotel. There is a convenience store across the street, too. The location is nice for walking.

SingaporeUnfortunately, it probably coincided with some school trips; hence, the hotel seemed very noisy and rowdy. I preferred a quiet environment. As there are only 2 washing machines and dryers, there is a long queue for guests to use. Even though you can cast your mobile device on the screen, applications like Netflix can't be played.
The staff is professional and English-speaking, and the breakfast selection is good. The room was okay for the standard Japanese size. Staff had arranged 2 side-by-side rooms to accommodate my family of 4 travelling together. Lawson convenience store is located just across the street, and many eateries are nearby. Parking is complimentary and located just beside the hotel.

United StatesWe loved this little hotel. It was convenient to the Akita Inu museum. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They gave us great restaurant recommendations. There is a Lawson’s convenience store right across the street too. The restaurant across the street was on of the best meals we have had in Japan and was very reasonably priced. The hotel has coin laundry available, which was perfect for halfway through our trip. The TV has an option to cast your own streaming account from your phone to your TV, so we could watch shows in English easily. I was initially concerned that the room has two beds and not one as we are a couple, but the beds were very comfortable and easily moved together. The hotel is a short taxi ride from the station and we genuinely enjoyed our stay in Odate.

AustraliaThis hotel reeked of smoke despite being on a non smoking floor. The communal bath was next to the smoking room and reeked of smoke. The room itself on a non smoking floor stunk of smoke and had mould on the window sills. I had a horrible headache the whole night due to the smoke and mould I believe. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone affected my smoke.
Not much at all. The staff were friendly.
