Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot a single hotel bar open at 10pm on a Sunday sadly. I’d expect one to be open in a place like this. Especially with the three hotels on the complex.
I mean everything you’d expect from a top hotel. The Hanakhoro part is lovely. Traditional as expected. The gardens were beautiful too. Good room service selection. Our welcome check in was fantastic.

United StatesFor the price, these accomodations should have been much better. It was not worth the money spent. You can find other places with a better value for the rate they charged for this room. Also, the service was spotty. They had a hard time even helping us find a shop for a hat, or a good place for ramen. When they did give us recommendations, they didn't tell us how to get there. And one of the places they sent us to was closed. Only certain higher level managers were competent. When I asked if I could give them some feedback, they said I should do it online. So I'm doing that now. They also never cleaned the room fully, leaving trash on the table and under the table for all four days there. I won't be back here unfortunately.
The room and hotel are quiet and clean. The restroom and bathroom were nice. The bed was comfortable.

United StatesSurrounding location was hard to walk (too steep for senior citizens), not many eating places or things to do in the neighborhood.
Wonderful service and the food was fabulous (but I expected natto). The Japanese room was so beautiful and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful but we came at a time with little flowers in bloom.

SingaporeThe location is quite far from Shinagawa Station 600m (8mins walk uphill) specially with large luggage.
The Japanese style room was big, clean & comfortable with unblock view. The complimentary hotel shuttle bus provides easy access to the other few hotels nearby. The Japanese Garden in the center of the few hotels is very relaxing to walk.

United KingdomLocation of the hotel is not the best in terms of immediate sightseeing areas. However it is very close to Shinagawa station and 10-15mins walk from other key subway lines.
They paid attention to every detail. The check in experience was perfect - they served me mochi and matcha. They were able to answer all my questions regarding checking in and out. The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, with lots of free amenities.

United Kingdom- nearest train station is Shinagawa which we felt itself didn’t have a lot to offer in the area, great for the Shinkansen though - best way to get to the station is via the garden entrance which includes so slippery stairs if it’s been raining otherwise the hotel is at the top of a hill
- stunning room with traditional tatami mat floors and sliding doors - really comfortable beds and pillows - lots of hanging and storage space for suitcases - staff really friendly and helpful, able to speak English - smelt lovely throughout the hotel - welcome drinks and snack with hand towels - large rooms as well - also liked the small touches such as leaving us little cards to tell us the weather for the next day - bellhop services were fantastic and efficient - liked the exclusivity and access to the lounges - hotel lobby and grounds are stunning

We had an amazing time here! So thankful this was our first accommodation after landing and spending 10 hours on the plane. Everything was top notch, from the beds to the service and facilities. The service we received from the staff especially stood out to us - the staff were intentional, initiative and so willing to help. We felt warmly welcomed and taken care of throughout our stag. Will definitely be back here again.

SingaporeNothing. There was a slight issue during our stay and the managers solved it very quickly. Overall wonderful. The hotel is very big and there are 3 hotels linked to it. So check which one you stay, otherwise it is a good 5-10 mins walk.

United StatesThe lounge could use a greater variety of foods. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible to deliver a western style breakfast to the room, and not just a Japanese traditional breakfast. The location is not ideal, and a taxi must be taken to a variety of sites, and can get expensive. It is near the Shinagawa station however.
The Hanakohro felt intimate, with lots of attention, but is part of the much bigger complex, which gave accessibility to a variety of facilities.
