It was very loud. Like in most Japanese houses, you can hear everything, but these walls were particularly thin, so make sure to bring ear plugs. Spent an additional night in the dorms and it was very busy, with people coming and going throughout the night. Generally not a social guesthouse at all, but overall still very pleasant.

Great location in Kagoshima and the house itself was nice and clean, we loved the quiet rooftop with views of the volcano and the kitchen is very well-equipped. The two-person bunk-bed room was quite small but still comfortable and cozy and the staff was lovely.

The floors were quite dirty in the rooms and public areas where you couldn't use shoes. The beds were in quite a sad state and the mattresses were quite thin.

Location of the guesthouse is perfect--easily able to get to the port to access ferries. The roof is great to relax on as well with a view of Sakurajima. I made some great friends here!

I could smell the tobacco from next door, which was a bit distracting at bed time.

The place has unique layout, including a cool roof terrace. Despite having 2 showers for 30+ people, I never had to wait for one to be available.

Good value for a hostel. Walking distance to shops, convenience stores and supermarket. Lounge area open 24h and we could stay there after check-out. Good kitchen facility, just the dining area is a little cramp. Fridge freezer for guests to use and I observed the staff actually cleaning it out of old foodstuff which doesn't always happen so I'm glad to see the shared fridge gets cleaned! Coin operated laundry available. The dorm room had a small balcony with a line for hanging clothes, though it is also a smoking area in case you have dorm-mates who are smokers then it would not be pleasant. The room shakes when large trucks drive by, although I got used to it quickly. They do like burning incense in the common area, in case you find that sort of thing over-powering.

Staff were very friendly and helpful (even when we had to come back for something we left behind, they found it and kept it safe for us). The double bunk room was decent. The rooftop area and kitchen were great - there is even a beer vending machine! Great location right next to the Toppy Ferry terminal. I would have liked to stay longer at this guesthouse.

The stairs are a bit steep which was no problem for me. But if you have trouble with stairs it might be difficult to go up to the rooms.

Very nice guesthouse near to the ferry terminals to Yakushima. Private rooms with tatami floors and shared bathrooms and shower rooms. There’s a common area on the 3rd floor to eat and chat with guests which is also where the shower rooms are. There’s also a nice area on the main floor with a bar where you can buy wine or beer.

It is right by a busy Road, the views are blocked by a big wall of another big building and there are no showers on the floor with private rooms. The shared showers are one floor further up.

It was close to the wharf so if you are taking a ferry to any of the islands or Sakurajima, it’s a great location. And I liked the little balcony. Also there is a roof top for star gazing and sozialising.
