Very comfortable and at a reasonable price. Shared kitchen with pans and plates if you'd rather cook than eat out. Great rooftop space with beautiful view of Sakurajima volcano. Overall great choice.

Smoking is allowed on the balcony next to the room, which is inconsiderate for the non smokers in the room since the windows sometimes stay open at night and people dry their wet clothes there.

Staying at the Green Guesthouse is an adventure. The volcano is just across the bay, you can see it from the rooftop. And the building shakes a little with traffic, every few minutes, so you may think it comes from the volcano. There is no bathroom sink to wash your hands or brush your teeth, so you use the kitchen sink. But the hostel is so small and cosy, that none of it is a problem. The location is perfect to take the ferry, few minutes walk to the port.

The ladder to the upper bunk bed is off center and I'm sure impossible for anyone with trouble in such physical activities

The roof deck is lovely with plenty of seating perfect for hosting a small get together with friends with amazing views of the volcano

You can smell the smoke of cigarettes in the male dormitory. Smoking is prohibited in this guesthouse. It's only allowed on the rooftop and on the balcony. Most smokers are too lazy to go to the rooftop, so they use the balcony. Obviously, the smoke creeps from the balcony through the gap between the sliding door/wall into the room or the smokers carry the smell on their body and bringt it inside. I am not sure. Fact is, that the room smells like smoke and it's false to call it a non-smoking room in my opinion. I am German which means I have to tolerate the extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate behaviour of smokers every day. Smoking in areas where it's not allowed. Littering the environment with cigarettes. An generally never considering that the smoke they produce might annoy others. This is something you will see and have to deal with every day in Germany. Many Germans have fewer manners than a strey dog. Nevertheless, this led me to a point where I hate smokers to death. And that's why i felt a little disgusted by the smell of cigarette smoke inside the dorminoty. I think this must be changed. Smoking should be banned on the balcony and only be allowed on the roof top.

The owner is super nice. Very charismatic person. Rooftop Bed, showers are perfectly fine.

If you have any trouble walking, you want make it up - the rooms are high up a steep, narrow staircase. The rooms are really crowded, which translates to noisy and damp. The shared areas could be cleaner. All the DON"T TOUCH notices are translated into English, but instructions for using the kitchenware are not, so I never managed to cook anything (: The internet connection is really poor and the staff is usually nowhere to be found. Stayed for one night and did not get a refund for the second.

Nice rooftop with a good view on the Sakujirama. Otherwise a very basic stay. Rather disappointing, and the price is not so low.

I heard from a cab driver that there are not many lodgings in Kagoshima. I visited Kagoshima to watch a baseball game between Sendai Ikuei and Keio, and Green Guest House was very helpful. It is located close to Sakurajima and also good location to downtown. If you have earplugs, you will be in heaven. I recommend it. I hope they will continue to run the business.

We book a private room with balcony. Room was pretty tiny to both of us. The balcony was good. The guest house is close with Aquarium. There is Yoshinoya (cheap restaurant) and convenient store right cross way

The building shakes every time a bigger car drives past on the streets. The dorm beds was quite thin, so not good for side sleepers. The guesthouse is on 4 different floors with no elevator and very steep stairs. I was not bothered but, something to think about if you have a lot of luggage or have difficulties with stairs.

The room was extremely small and not confortable for 2 persons. The guesthouse faces a busy road, hence it’s a bit noisy. The spaces could be cleaner.

Ok for a short stay, especially if you need to take the ferry/boat to Yakushima early in the morning.

Sound insulation is insufficient especial the traffic noise during the nighting time after 11:00PM incl. 03:30AM in the earlier morning. I can feel the continous virbration during the upon period of time. Location is really convenient which is close to the port to the Yakushima but not a quiet environment.

the beds were uncomfortable. And the building sways with passing traffic. Which is a problem because this is on a busy road near a port. Thus, I slept poorly.

Good kitchen facilities has everything you need. Nice rooftop with a great view of Sakurajima Island. Easy access to ferry terminal 5 minutes away and bikes can be hired from hostel for Y1000 a day which are new and have 6 speed gears.

The whole place reeked of incense and the womens dorm smelled weird and dirty. The bed was incredibly hard, and every time the person in the upper bed moved, the whole thing shook me awake. Lots of dust around the beds and dirty walls. Staff told me it wasn’t possible to buy boat tickets beforehand but I went there anyway and had no problem purchasing tickets a day prior…

It was near the port. Equipped kitchen.

Comfortable, clean, friendly staff, excellent location, very affordable. The rooftop terrace was excellent with a view that overlooks the volcano. The room had a balcony and there was plenty of places to lounge around.

Some of the other customers got into a fight, the staff instead of calming everything down, they joined in the fight. This place is very uncomfortable
