Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe food was just average, had expected much better quality for the price I paid.
The onsen and the Mount Fuji view. We love the Japanese style room.

AustraliaYou can only access this hotel via ropeway, bus or car. The hotel shuttle bus will only take you to the nearest bus stop. If there is bad weather the ropeway service maybe suspended, and taxis are hard to book. Beware some of the path from Ubako ropeway station to the hotel is muddy and rocky.
Room and bathroom were spacious. Dinner buffet was really good. Staff were helpful. Short walk to hotel from Ubako ropeway station.

United StatesIt was a long bus ride to this hotel and taxis were expensive but necessary to get around. Not a lot to do at the hotel except the onsen.
Breakfast was both Japanese and western so there were lots of options at meal time. The onsen was well kept and had beautiful views of nature.

AustraliaExpected more for my money - Meals were of very good quality. Don't expect to get views of Mt Fuji or onsens in every room as advertising seems to suggest.
Accomodation is of average quality and seems a little lost in the 1980's - The decor and facilities are quite tired but kept very clean and comfortable - Areas such as under the beds and on top of ward robes were quite dusty.

LithuaniaA tad expensive, but is somewhat undestandable considering location and services provided. Though I had to rent a room for 2, they do not have option for loners.
- Great location with direct view of Mount Fuji. - Has a decent onsen located on premises that was quite nice. Onsen also has sauna available at certain times. - Breakfast/dinner was very high in variety of dishes. - Japanese style room was big and spacious. Nevertheless has a comfy feel to it.

United KingdomHard to find fault when you have views like this! The rope way closes quite early, so we had a bit of adventure getting back to the hotel after the cruise on lake Ashi. But it all added to our experience.
It’s a bit remote! Getting there by train is an experience, but once at Ubako station, it’s a short walk. We left our suitcases at Odawara, which made it easier. Views were sensational. Food is good and there is plenty of choice. Our room was very comfortable and spacious.

AustraliaOnly negative point was the futon making was self service and the bathroom was very tiny and the only chairs in the room were very small Tatami style ones.
Hotel Green Plaza is very good value for money.Modest but clean room with an impressive variety of items at the buffet for both breakfast & dinner.Outdoor Onsen is the standout facility here which also features friendly staff who can communicate in English...two thumbs up.

The views are amazing. The staff is very friendly. I would definitely stay again at this hotel. We got one night Japanese style and one night Western. I'd definitely go for the Japanese next time.

United StatesCouldn't use the public onsen because of tattoos.
The private bath was outside and easy to use as expected. The room was quiet and comfortable and clean. The hotel breakfast and buffet wasn't bad since it was our first time. There was ample parking since many seem to take the shuttle or take public transportation there. The wifi was good without any issues. Hot water for showers was good with good water pressure. There was a view of Mount Fuji from the outdoor private bath.

CyprusThe Volcanic Gas smell is very strong especially at night, it almost smells like sewers and stays all night long. The beds aren't comfortable especially the pillow. It's a bit unfortunate that tattoos are not allowed in the public bath and you have to be FULLY naked to enter. It's a tradition, but a bit new and uncomfortable for my taste.
The location is very nice, the buffet is great with many varieties. The room was spacious.

The view was extraordinary. We were lucky to be there on a clear sunny day and it was breathtaking. Staff were friendly and it felt like a comfortable and laid back place to be and wander about. Both adults and kids enjoyed the huge selection of buffet foods. The onsen looking out at Mr Fuji was utterly magic.

CanadaIt is a challenge to get to the hotel without a car and a taxi is difficult to come by in this area. It was long walk to get to hotel from a public bus stop on the main road, when returning from sightseeing or the main train station with luggage ( luckily we travelled with only one bag per person). Suggest the hotel do more to assist foreign travellers without a car, by running a shuttle van to and from train station or the another common bus stop with a shelter (to protect from the rain). Our cell phones did not work in the area so would be helpful to have more information on how to get there or a regular schedule for a shuttle van for pickup that goes to the hotel door. We did a lot of walking! That said, it was worth the effort to stay at this unique hotel and staff were very kind and helpful.
This was an excellent resort hotel on a lovely property with hot springs spa in lower level. It feels vintage, from a bygone era of luxury mountain resort travel. Staff were wonderful. The plus side: our room had an excellent view of Mount Fuji on a clear day, and was spacious and comfortable. The main buffet restaurant had an very good variety and excellent quality of foods available for supper and breakfast. There were also plenty of useful amenities in our room (shampoo, conditioner, soaps, toothbrush, snacks, etc). Note the spa is Japanese style (follow the instructions given, also no swimsuits) and are separate spa for women. I would return again someday if I have the opportunity to visit Japan.
