There is nothing to dislike!

Very quaint, rustic and beautiful building but with modern amenities. The perfect "digital nomad ryokan" experience. The cat was so cute!

To be honest we were disappointed to have gotten a rather modern style room, and not a tatami room. Not sure if I may have missed some information when booking (which is probable), but we chose the ryokan hoping to have a full experience by staying in a tatami room, which was finally not the case.

The room was big and airy compared to the size of a standard japanese hotel.

One minor drawback that I can think of: the neighboring high building had a stong outside lights turned on the whole night, that was somewhat affecting the sleep quality.

Great experience of Japanese ryokan. Nice room, good amenities, great checkin/out flexibility. Friendly, helpful host. I never thought that sleeping on the floor can be so comfortable :)

Comfortable 1 night staying here for our short stopover at Odawara. At 6am we went out for morning walk to the Odawara Castle. We wish we didn't have to check out so early for our next stop. We have 4 pax in the 8 pax room, we chose this room because i think it is the only room with attached shower. The kids loved the double decker beds. In this 8pax room we have our own shower, however bathroom is shared with the restaurant n connected thru the door (u will have a key). It was monday so the restaurant/bar was close or i would love to visit the bar.. I prefer to walk to the shared bathroom coz it was nice to walk into the wooden floor. It is convenient to have shower in our room, however I didn't use the heater well n had icy shower in the winter. The room temperature was very comfortable as the host made sure it was well adjusted before our arrival. It is some walk from.the hotel to the odawara station however roads are flat n easy with our luggage. The distance from hotel to the odawara castle garden = distance to the odawara castle. It was wonderful to choose our sleeping robe.

The atmosphere was beautiful, it was warm and the scent when you walk in made you feel like you're at home. The yukata provided was spending and the hosts were kind and were happy to communicate with me. I would return again if I was to stay in Odawara again in the future!

We enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Plum. Host communicates well in English and responds very timely. Accommodation is very neat, clean and well equipped. Location is very convenient to nearby stores, restaurants and train station.

It’s a bit of a walk from the station (about 10 mins) but easy enough. Shared single bathroom and toilets but they have a great system to reserve time. Happy with this as it’s part of the charm of this older style home.

While helping the vintage retro look, the tatami seemed to be a little worn out. It didn’t bother me, but I’m not sure about other guests

It isn’t as convenient as expected, it is a 10 minutes walk from Odawara station, and you would have to walk quite a bit to the nearby restaurants. Given that it is a wooden house, there will be a lot of creaking noises especially when you use the stairs, it wasn’t a big issue to me since I woke up very early in the morning. The stairs are a bit too narrow for medium sized luggage, it can be tiresome to carry your luggage up and down the stairs.

The hosts speak fluent English, they were very polite and friendly throughout my stay. The facilities provided were top notch, the room and bathroom was very clean.

This is a super sweet place. Traditionally Japanese but with all the amenities and comfort you need as a contemporary traveler. Staff speaks English and is very friendly. Really with best recommendations

There is a parking lot across from the property which is rather unfortunate, as the inn itself is a lovely 100 plus year old wooden building. But the nights were quiet as it’s in the middle of a residential area.

We were welcomed by the kind and helpful staff, and taken to our spacious and lovely room KIWI. Everything is clean and each detail has been thought through to make our stay really memorable. For example, delicious coffee and tea provided by the guest house, comfortable beds and small decorative details that made us feel welcome and at home. The staff were wonderful!

I only stayed for 1 night but I had an enjoyable stay at Ryokan Plum. The staff was really nice and helpful. The Ryokan is a charming old house with a few modern interior interventions. I chose the Japanese style room and it's really spacious with your own sink and vanity inside. The place is located within walking distance from the train station which is a plus. Gorokichi is really cute and friendly. I'll definitely stay here again if I ever go back to Odawara!

In the suite the toilet (but not the shower or sink area) is shared for the afternoon/evening and it is older style - for us this was no problem especially given how charming the property is overall. It is an older small building so some unmodern parts are to be expected. Also due to it being an older place the noise travelled between rooms but this was not so much so that it was a problem for us at all.

What an amazing little place! It is decorated beautifully in a modern cute/funky style. We stayed in the ‘suite’ it had three double western beds that were super comfy, and two singles as bunks, also comfy. We were only a family of 4 so had heaps of space. There is a small annex with table for 8 and fridge, microwave (kitchen facilities common to other rooms, very easy to use). The staff member who greeted us and showed us around was so very friendly, with perfect English. We stayed only one night as a place of transit, we would have liked to stay more just for the hotel! There was a small beer bar at the back which we were sad we didn’t have a chance to try.
