Had to go up a big hill to get to the hotel. Not that big of a deal.

Fantastic staff, friendly and flexible. The facilities were comfortable and novel.

This is a great, affordable place in a convenient location for exploring Hakone, but please be mindful that the main rooms and the annex are two VERY different places. Because I booked too close to my trip, I ended up scheduling a nice traditional Japanese tatami room with an individual futon each for me and my 2 friends with a private bathroom and shower the first night in the main building, which we loved! Then I booked us a 2 person space and a 1 person space in the annex for the second night and I would not recommend it unless you’re really comfortable with hostels. It was extremely different from our first night and was basically sleeping in a hot wooden box with a futon inside. On my own, I’d probably have been ok with that for an affordable stay, but my friends didn’t appreciate the sudden drop in quality of accommodations from one night to the next.

Capsule hostel with comfortable bar and common space. We slept in double capsule and it was good sleep. Not many space in capsule but there are lockers suitable for two big backpacks. All nice and clean. There are discounts for near onsen at the reception. After bath at the onsen we get delicious Japanese food at reasonable price. Staff speak English and they are very helpful.

You get only a small face towel, large ones are paid. It was hot in the room, and the air conditioning was quite poor.

Overall good for a short stay. It was quiet, the mattress was quite soft.

Bit high on the price side - this probably due to golden week rather than any issues with the hostel itself. If not young and fit, may be difficult to lug suitcases up hill and then up stairs to apartment - again, not a fault with the hostel itself.

Nice feel about the place. The bar is a nice way to meet other guests. Staff knowledgeable and give good tips for the local area / things to see/do. Apartment good size with good amenities. Bed comfortable and clean. Would recommend.

Due to the wooden capsules, you can hear everything that happens around you. But there are already signs that say to keep quiet at the sleeping area :)

It’s very clean. I loved to have the possibility to order food at the hostel! The beds are also very comfy.

The stairs up are quite steep (we didn't find the slope up to the Guesthouse any issue though).

We stayed in one of the Apartment rooms - which had everything we needed. Good location a little walk from the station and a bus stop.

The capsule was spacious and very comfortable. The locker was big and could easily fit more than one suitcase. The location was convenient, within walking distance of the train station. I enjoyed the possibility of having a drink in the evening at the bar.

There's a steep uphill on the way from the main street to the hostel which could be a bit challenging if you're walking with heavy luggage

Nice and cosy guesthouse located not too far from the main shopping street near Hakone Yumoto station. Staff were very friendly. We got to experience hot spring in Hakone as the staff provided useful information (price and route) on several hot spring locations. Also the hostel has a small bar which serves food until 9pm, which was nice to have if your day ends late as most restaurant in Hakone closes around 6pm.

My favourite thing was the little bar next door which was perfect for relaxing and taking a drink/food. The dorms are very decent and spacious. Nice location in Hakone, it's also a reasonably fast and very pleasant walk to the tenzan onsen from there.

    - no lift - we were on the 3rd floor so may be trickier for others (weren’t a problem for us) - the rooms are bunks so if you have mobility issues it may be tricky to duck your head or climb up the ladders to your bunks??

    - able to store bags before check in - good location: close to a bus stop to Lake Ashi (2 mins), 15 mins to the train station, close to restaurants, quiet area - friendly staff - helpful and smiley - communal areas: kitchen, free tea & coffee, opportunities for paid drinks and food (food sounded yummy) - comfortable beds: we had a fantastic night’s sleep - lovely, clean rooms - good communal showers and toilets - people were so quiet and respectful

If someone smoked outside you would feel in your capsule as all the smoke would go through the fan inside. Also for the price you pay would be nice to receive towels. If you get ground floor cabin it might get a bit noisy from the cabin above you. Also the lights in common areas are always on so you will get some light through the gaps in the capsule.

Was cozy, clean, it had all you need for a short stay, large bed, good shower. Kitchen was small but they provided coffee and tea also there was an option to cook/ warm up your own meal.

It's located uphill, but that didn't bother us, as overall it's very close to the centre of this part of Hakone.

The hostel is beautifully furnished - the wooden sleeping spaces are pretty and surprisingly big, I could stretch my arms up while sitting on the mattress and there was plenty of room next to it to put our things. We were able to lock two big suitcases and one smaller one in the locker. Showers had places to put clothes and stuff. We got a face towel and there were slippers and umbrellas you could borrow, and rental towels. The bed was comfortable and it was really absolutely quiet during the night, everyone was respectful. The common kitchen had dishes, a fridge, free black tea and coffee... We didn't stay at the bar but the menu looked great. The staff gave us a map with very good recommendations of restaurants, Onsen, supermarkets etc.
