How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Bunk bed is always going to be slightly awkward to get into. The bathroom was alright, but a bit old and rustic.
It was cheap and clean and ticked the boxes

The water in the shower did not drain properly and there was no real sink to brush teeth and etc. No kitchen or common room, but a big table in the room. You can walk to the train station but it is quite a bit.
The rooms are really big, enough space for everything.

All was good. Suggestion: perhaps put up some tips for the food (certain recommended places) nearby, sights, supermarket, bakery, etc.
Nice place, good location. The guesthouse did not feel cold in February

Parking is expensive at 500yen per day for a guesthouse when many guesthouses do not charge for parking. Even APA Hotel Kagoshima Kokubo charges only 300yen. There are no cups to make a hot drink for breakfast. And the vending machine machine only has cold drinks and cold coffee, no hot coffee! The first morning, we had to go out to mac's for breakfast because of that. 2nd day, we discovered Taiyo supermarket around the corner which had a vending machine with HOT coffee, so we popped down to get our hot coffee for breakfast
The dorm room for my family of three was comfortable and very clean. It has ensuite but separate toilet and shower.

There was no communal kitchen area although the room had a fridge, kettle and sink. However no cups, plates or utensils supplied.
Quiet area, yet within walking distance from the station and downtown. Staff had no English, but was very helpful and polite.

The location is a bit of a walk from the station, but manageable. There is no kitchen available nor common areas. If guests in the next room are loud, you can hear them through the walls.
Hostel is clean and the staff was very helpful. The room is quite large (especially for a hostel), and the facilities like toilet and shower are enclosed within your dorm room. There is also a large desk / bench area in the room. The curtains on the beds are quite opaque. Wifi was good.

poor Wi-Fi connection, do not have any public setting area, you either stay on your bed or on street. on level three will be hard for carry large luggage.

The shower room is kind of dated and could use some work. Also I stayed 5 nights but my small trash can was only emptied once during the stay, even though I was told to eat in the room. I ended up taking the food containers outside.

Extremely poor wifi in the room. I stayed in room 03 and the wifi keep disconnected when I was on the bed. Even if connected, the speed was very slow that I can't even reply massage. Hope it can improve because all other things are good beside this.
The staff was really nice. There are washing machine and dryer outside the room and it cost 300yen for washing machine and 100yen for 30mins dryer.

This may just be for my stay however there was little room for any socialising, perfect for a quiet stay to recharge at an incredible room rate

The staff were very kind. Facilities were clean and secure. Due to the scarcity of guests, I had room to myself. A new towel was provided. Extremely good experience for its price.

Nothing really.
1. The location is near Kagoshima-chuo station and just 5min walk from the Shinkanbashi bus stop 2. The location is about 5mins walk to KFC and has a supermarket just next to it to get food and toiletries 3. The staff was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable 4. The check-in and check-out procedure is easy 5. Allows for payment at the location 6. The place is very clean and secure. 7. Even though a dormitory for 4 ladies, I was alone in the room for the night.
