Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Netherlands-
The owners are very warm and open, it was so nice to get to know them and feel at home in their home. I came to be by myself, for two nights from Tokyo, but ended up meeting some other travellers and waking up early to see the sunrise view of Mt. Fuji with them. I feel like those moments are made possible by the warm and cosy Murabito Guesthouse. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

MalaysiaNone. For slightly sensitive people just bear in mind that this property is next to the road so you will definitely hear traffic noises. Earplugs are provided in the room though :)
A cosy place to stay. Felt like home to me. I travelled from Yokohama and the highway bus stopped right next to this guesthouse. Highway bus to Tokyo also stops at the same bus stop and that is very convenient. Their bike rental rate is one of the cheapest too! Thank you so much Marino and Kei for the hospitality💕 I would definitely be back in the future to hike up the trails around Yamanakako 🗻

Charming hostel with cozy common places, great kitchen and the Fuji-san view from the balcony! Clean rooms, all necessary kitchen tools and city bikes to rent. It was great to ride across the lake (the rental is cheaper than near the lake beach). Friendly and helpful owners! Best hostel ever)

LuxembourgFor people wanting to do the area of fuji in one day the location is not as convenient as others(yamanakako in general). Having said that there is buses going almost every half an hour just in front of the house.
Very friendly staff with great ambiance in the house. All facilities laid out clearly! Clean and tidy and all guests respectful.

GermanyVery clean and comfy beds. Also big rooms and enough space to organize your stuff. The staff was friendly and especially super helpful. Great location for the bus stop and Lake Yamanakako, which is less touristy and and more relaxing than Lake Kawaguchi. Thanks :)

FranceMy stay at the Murabito guesthouse was simply wonderful! First of all, kindness, sympathy, generosity and benevolence are the words that sum up the owners Marino and Kei well. In addition, they speak perfect English which makes communication much easier for people who do not speak Japanese. Then the house is really clean and the beds are really comfortable. Finally, the house benefits from an excellent location, very close to Lake Yamanakako and a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. Thank you very much for this stay! Thomas

ItalyAmazing stay! The owners are very nice and super helpful. Gave us a lot of recommendations for places to visit and where to eat. We rented the bikes and had a cycle around the lake, definitely recommend! The japanese style room was good sized and very comfortable for two people. The bathroom was shared but didn't create any problems. Very nice shared kitchen and lounge area. I would definitely stay here again!

CanadaAlthough the guest house had two clean and modern toilets and two showers/bathrooms, it would have been nice to have those in our room. However, this was not an issue or significant detriment.
The property was clean & well maintained and the hosts Marino and Kensuki were truly helpful, friendly, informative and informed. The guesthouse was a great value, located just steps from lake Yamanakaka, the bus stop, near an onsen and several good restaurants. There was also a common area where there was free fresh coffee available in the morning, places to store food if you wished to cook for yourself, and a dining area where we met several travellers from many countries. They also rent bicycles for a reasonable 1,000 Yen/day.

United StatesIt didn’t bother us, but it’s worth knowing that sound insulation between rooms was a bit thin. We could hear people speaking in the room next door.
A wonderfully charming, family owned and operated guesthouse - cozy and clean located right next to the bus stop on Lake Yamanaka. We had a bunk bed in a private, spacious room. Lovely shared area to relax in and meet fellow travelers with a kitchen space. The entire place has two toilets and two showers that always looked and smelled very clean the two days we stayed. About a 15 min walk to an onsen with a view of Fujisan, walking distance to restaurants, activities, and hikes around the lake, and an hour and a half direct bus to Gotemba Outlets. We were there in early spring when it was still cold, but this place would be perfect for accessing water activities on the lake in warmer weather! The owners of Murabito were exceptionally kind and helpful! We needed to make a reservation for bus tickets to get to Shinjuku, and they helped us call the bus company and set up the reservation.

Canada-Would be missing a complete sink upstairs -The sliding doors downstairs are the worst noise problem. You can hear it open and close so clearly from upstairs, and when people use it repetitly after 11 am or very early at 5 am, then it got me awake and couldn’t sleep anymore. -Not related to the hostel itself, but the cost of a one way bus to the hostel from fujisan train station is 700 yen, which is pretty expensive. Also, the first bus for Pagoda or lake Kawaguchi is at 7:44 am. So if you planned to get by the pagoda for sunrise, you won’t be able to make it. Also no taxi around. Note that the best place was lake Yamanaka anyway, so do not even bother to check out the awfully crowded lake
We usually do not really like hostel, but this one was a bit different. Our private bunk bed room was much larger then expected and a small foldable table is provided. There is a large closet for backpacks and personal items. The beds are incredibly comfortable, big and practical, home made and very strong, so it doesn’t move when the person on the top moves. It was overall pretty quiet, and very clean in all shared rooms too. People were pretty respectful when we were here. I got injured during my Japan trip, so they help me renting a wheelchair. The bus stop is 1 minute walk from the hostel and the bus for Shinjuky Tokyo stops directly here !
