I wanted a hotel near the station for a one week stay. This can be a gamble, going sight unseen somewhere. The hotel exceeded my basic needs and expectations. The room was spacious enough to make a one week stay enjoyable, space to rest and relax after a day's sightseeing. The hotel is a new build, so the soundproofing was good.

Coin laundry fee is almost double of similar chain hotels. Washer is 300 yen and dryer is 200 yen per 30 min, drying takes at least 1 hour for a small load of clothes.

There should be towels provided in the hot spring as I had to bring my in-room towel (could never dry in time). Also, there should be a clock inside the hot spring (there is only one in the changing area).

Opposite of the JR station but you need to pass the underground tunnel (exit D) - there is no crossing on ground level. Rooms were new and quite big (can fully open suitcase and have space to walk. There is an artificial hot spring which was nice and you can view the crowd status from your in-room TV.

The smoking smell at the lobby area and the lift. Smoking room is right next to the lifts and the lobby area and the lift smell like cigarettes. The smell really put me off.

Great location just opposite the station. Convenience store just next to the hotel as well. Staffs are very very helpful and friendly. My friend left her scarf at an Onsen Ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen and a staff called them for us to check if they found a scarf. When we asked a nice cafe near the hotel, she copied a map and circled the cafe on the map and gave the map to me. The staffs went the extra miles to help us. Big bath is also very nice although it's an artificial Onsen.

Just across the street from the railway station - great location as in front of the railway station are the buses. Matsue has a tourist bus that you can catch to major sights. The tourist information centre is also in the same area and the staff are very helpful.

Had to push to check in 30 minutes early after a 5 hour train journey and it was raining. No sauna on the women's side, only on the men's side!

Hotel is opposite the train station and rooms are clean and adequate. Onsen was clean and new but small on the women's side. Good sushi restaurant next door.

No drinking water given or water dispenser at the hotel. Although the water from the tap is portable, drinking water will be nice to have. However, a Lawson store is a stone throw away.

Poor soundproofing both from outside noise and neighbouring rooms. Some rooms had only a view of a blank wall! Only 2 lifts meant occasional long waits from the 10th floor. Only Japanese channels on TV. No shelves or drawers for clothes, only very limited hanging.

Exceeded expectations. Large size room ( we booked a single room for a couple). Very clean and modern. Towels were larger than the usual small size for a Japanese hotel stay. Hotel is located across the road from the station/ take underpass outside station (next to information building) to cross the road. Very friendly staff. Little English but enough to be able to communicate effectively. Matsue Castle within walking distance - fairly flat although you can take the no. 7 bus from the bus depot outside the train station.
