The location was very nice, especially the onsen and the possibility to book two of them private. The staff was so friendly and helpful. And the food was typical Japanese and very delicious.

A few more instructions on how to use some of the facilities and items would have been helpful, but we figured most of it out :)

The hospitality and experience was fantastic! The private onsen was a highlight for us and the food was great (although a lot!)

Very good food and Youko ( the person who was in charge of our room) was amazing .Some of the staff even spoke spanish to us !!! Very relaxing and tattoo friendly .I would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience japanese Ryokan.

This was very different to the food we had been eating thus for on our Japan trip. Alot of raw fish, clam dishes with alot of variety on small plates. happy to try it all but I think for someone not used to this might struggle !

Onsen was lovely overlooking river. The staff member looking after us was very nice and showed us how to wear a Komodo

The bathroom could be remodeled. A bit old.

The food, breakfast and dinner, was absolutely stunning. The lady in charge of bringing the food was very kind and explained the various Japanese food. Interesting experience with the futon. The hotel is very well located.

Staff and service were great! Was able to drop off luggage before checkin (11am) so we can sightsee, and we were able to schedule our dinner time, breakfast time and book a private onsen (45mins) during our 1- night stay with a relaxing river and mountain view; the public onsens were wonderful, too! Large, spacious room w/ bath & toilet. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious. Excellent location! Only 3mins from the Hakone-Yumoto Sta. with lots of shops and restaurants around.

The staff is amazing and really careful to provide everything you need. We had the experience of a traditional dinner and breakfast, and it was really nice despite being so different from the meals we usually have. The onsen provided a good view of the mountains and the river, bringing a peaceful moment.

The room showed signs of age and did not feel like a pampering setting. It was more expensive than other places we stayed in Japan, but am not sure if that is what should be expected for a ryokan experience in Hakone, especially with a private bath.

This ryokan is only steps away from the Hakone-Yumoto train station. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We had a lovely private bath overlooking the river. Delicious and plentiful breakfast in a private dining room. Liked the robes, shoes and basket provided to take to the public bath.

There were no chairs, but that was to be expected. So actually, there was nothing I didn’t like.

The bathroom was a little small even by japanese standards. The early mandatory breakfast was fantastic, but as someone who doesn't like big breakfasts, it shocked the system a bit.

The staff was wonderful and accommodating. Location was perfect and near the centre of town and station. Baths were incredible and so relaxing after a long day of walking.

Whilst the traditional Japanese futon was a nice experience, was a bit firm for our western backs.

Great Ryokan at Hakone, the service was amazing and the facilities Spot on. Very close to the train station.

They're not really flexible with the dinner menu. Not a problem for us but something to be aware of if you need vegan, gluten-free etc.

The hotel is very close to the train station, very comfortable when coming from Tokyo as well as taking the train or bus to further explore the area. We stayed in the Japanese style room with breakfast and dinner included. It was a great experience overall, staff were very attentive and the food was good. Be prepared as the portions were big, we couldn't finish everything. We also tried the private bath which has a nice view over the woods. We loved that they had a yukata in your room for you to put on.

People serving food did not speak English and could not explain properly how to eat their food( order and combination)

Excellent location, clean facility and amazing rooms. We booked a room with private onsen on the balcony which we used it every night. We stayed for 3 nights and took breakfast and dinner. We had the meals on a private room served by our own butler. However despite the meal being delicious, breakfast was japanese style( miso soup, fish and rice ) not our style actually. Dinner we found it to be again delicious, but too much for us. If you want to experience this you should book it. Overall an amazing value but that came with the price.

I wish the open air onsen had better hours for Men.

The location was perfectly close to the train station and right on the river. Lovely to listen to the sound of the river at night. The staff were amazing and friendly and funny even when there was a bit of a language barrier - they made it work and made sure we were comfortable. I could tell they had a lot of experience in hospitality.

The lady (Naoko san), taking care of dinner and breakfast, was really nice. The privaate bath has a beautiful view.

The staff who served us for meals and bed preparation. She seemed to be forced to be here to serve us. No smile and she stared us (with no reason) when we met her in the corridor. A big contrast to the other staff that we had met in the hotel (both front desk staff and staff on other floors who are very polite and willing to help us).

Very polite and helpful front desk staff. Delicious sashimi and appetiser for dinner. Meals are good but it would be better if we can choose to have a smaller portion.

The tatami mat was a bit uncomfortable but for a westerner this is something we are not used to.

We loved this property, the room, the private onsen, the location was perfect and the staff were super friendly.
