Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThere was nothing we didn't like. Amazing place cannot praise enough
Everything. The location was amazing, the views front the garden. Located right beside the cruise boat(great for getting around) and beside a bus stop too. The staff were very friendly and we were lucky to have seen My Fuji from our room. Continental breakfast was great and the food in the restaurant was lovely.

United StatesAs someone who's not familiar with the area, I would only ask that the site provide a bit of warning with regards to dinner accessibility. All surrounding restaurants closed after about 4 pm, and the restaurants in the hotel required reservation. Thankfully, they have a lounge/bar area that served casual food that was very tasty, but advance knowledge would be nice to plan in the future.
Awesome lakeside view. Friendly staff. Very nice surrounding area for a jog or walk. We took the "adventurous" way to get to the hotel - train, cable car, ropeway, pirate ship. Very fun! The breakfast service was the most amazing breakfast buffet I've ever had - a mix of Japanese and western dishes. I definitely overate trying to enjoy them all.

FranceThe hotel is not very accessibility friendly. We were traveling with two small children and using a stroller and were given a room on the second floor, which for people who can’t take stairs requires an absurdly circuitous route on two elevators crisscrossing the property twice to access, despite the second floor literally being open to the lobby (via one flight of stairs). Given the third floor is directly accessible from the lobby via an elevator (which doesn’t stop on the second floor), I would strongly recommend that visitors who likely have some mobility issue be given rooms on that floor instead. In addition, the breakfast was delicious but it felt unnecessarily penny pinching to not include a child’s plate when your clients have paid for breakfast. Children are given access to the buffet and it was plentiful, but it’s a miserly look from an otherwise nice hotel to charge an extra fee for the children to basically be given an extra two eggs.
Beautiful views, comfortable rooms, excellent location, nice breakfast. All in all a wonderful stay!

United StatesIt’s a very humid area and the lobby had a musty smell. The check in could’ve been a bit more welcoming. I was asked to pay the tax on arrival in cash which felt a bit rushed and unexpected vs charging it to card. The reception could have been a little more welcoming, just very direct and felt a little odd relative to check in at other hotels in japan.
Hotel in front of Aishi lake, great views, clean facilities, has in an on-site onsen.

AustraliaThe 2 restaurants in the hotel are very expensive and you need to book before 5pm. There was only one restaurant nearby that was open at night, which was excellent. No transport in the evening to get anywhere. We asked the hotel to book us a taxi for 0630 to travel to Odawara but they could not organise it, maybe more a taxi issue but a bit disappointing for a large international hotel.
The view of the lake from our room was the highlight. We had a very large room with a lounge in front of the window with a view of the lake and Mount Fuji. Located next to the ferry terminal for the pirate boat which takes you to the ropeway station up to the volcano, connects to the cable car and Tozan Switchback railway. Guests lounge with complimentary coffee, tea and soft drinks.

AustraliaThe king sized bed was basically 2 separate beds located next to each other with a large gap between, so not as comfortable as we’d been expecting.

AustraliaView was sensational! Staff were excellent. Breakfast far exceeded expectations. Peaceful, wonderful location, bus from railway stations stops right outside the hotel. We purchased a Hakone Pass from railway station on arrival from Kyoto. The Pass covered the bus fares to our hotel plus pirate ship and much more. Certainly worth it. The Pirate ship is a couple of hundred metres from hotel. A couple of restaurants at hotel which included a French restaurant which we enjoyed very much. Also a few local restaurants nearby for lunch. We loved every minute of our stay. Beautiful area.
