Lovely lakeside location with fabulous views of the lake and Mt Fuji in the distance. Having indoor and outdoor Onsens at the hotel is great, and the Yukata and Samue loungewear in the rooms make it really relaxing

Others already commented that there is no supermarket and not a lot of restaurants open at night in Hakone-machi. You can take the bus to Hakone-moto and do the groceries there. Dont go too late as buses service is only twice an hour it seemed to us after 18h Whilst the location and view onto the lake is stunning, the price seemed very high compared to other lovely places in Japan. We took a conscious decision to pay it to increase our chances zo see mt Fuji and it paid out.

We had a room overlooking the lake and on the 2nd day we could see Mt Fuji right in front of us- amazing! We arrived at Hakone train station and then started the loop. Unfortunately, due to strong winds gondola and boats were suspended, but we were able to get to the hotel by bus. It must be really nice to arrive by gondola and later boat Boats start right next to the hotel, so we were able to take the first boat the bext day at 9:30 am. Welcome drinks Onsen with two different baths each

Absolutely minor points as we loved everything but the handle to flush the wc in the bathroom was very low on the cistern near the wall and needed a hard push, so very awkward to reach if you have back trouble. Also you need reservations for the restaurants so need to plan food ahead, although the bar also has a decent but limited selection of food; personally I wish there were more Japanese options for bar meals, but the steak rice bowl was very good.

One of the most enjoyable stays we have had anywhere. We had a lakeside room with balcony and seating area. We had quite a lot of luggage as we were spending three weeks travelling but there was enough storage room, unlike in some of the other hotels. The views of Mt. Fuji are just fantastic, especially at sunset! We tried both the French cuisine and the Japanese teppanyaki and both were superb and we ordered crepes suzette which were prepared at the table with the usual theatre. The staff were helpful and friendly and many spoke good English as we’re ashamed to admit our knowledge of Japanese is very limited!

Breakfast and dinner at the french restaurant was poor. I guess not much they can do about it, but to get to the hotel by bus from Hakone Yumoto, it’s next to last stop. On busy days the ride feels sooo long and crowded.

Great location and view- 3 min walk to the pirate ship from the hotel’s garden. Staff was super helpful. Our room was big (significantly when coming from a Tokyo hotel)

The prices are high. Breakfast is too expensive and not the best value for the money. The hotel facilities are a bit outdated - bathroom, furniture, carpet….

The hotel has an amazing view and starting point for the daily trips. The bus stop is in front of the hotel, which makes it even easier. The rooms are spacious and clean.

Beds were very uncomfortable - mattress was hard. There were literally no dinner options around the hotel - the operating hours listed for every single restaurant within walking distance online were incorrect - and hotel dinner option was very expensive. Very few buses came at night so we ended up walking over a mile in the rain to get food at a pizza place.

Gorgeous views of Lake Ashinoko and Mt Fuji. Excellent location to easily board the sightseeing cruise across the lake. Delicious breakfast buffet, very friendly and helpful staff. Luggage storage was excellent. Welcome cocktail was a very nice touch.

The bar food offering could be a little more varied. We did arrive at 7 but the restaurant would only take reservations prior to the time we arrived therefore we had no choice with little opportunity to dine elsewhere. It would have also been pleasant to have had our bags taken to the room.

The room was spacious and the lake view spectacular. The grounds were well cared for and the service was great. Lovely location. We had a beautiful night in a very quiet lakeside room. We awoke to a view of the lake in the foreground and mt Fuji in the distance. Breathtaking

There was hair on the shower wall. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Location is on the lake. Lots of activities available but it's still pretty early into spring so they weren't accessible at the time of my stay. Bus stop is directly I. Front of hotel and they have parking on site. Great view of the lake from the room.

Great hotel with a beautiful location of Lake Ashi. Right next to where the ferry is and with a bus stop right outside it. Cool looking hotel with free refreshments and views of the lake. Very cool stay.

Our room was much too hot and we couldn’t find a way to cool it. The pricing in the bar and restaurant was exceptionally high.

The staff were excellent and the customer service were exceptional. The view is wonderful and the location is good, close to the boat quays and bus stop. Breakfast is very good.

Wonderful location, friendly staff, and fabulous room! It was a highlight of our trip. We had room 303, and the view was incredible. The decor in the room is of an older style, but this is part of the charm, and we couldn't fault any part of our stay. The room and bathroom are huge! If we could have stayed longer, we would. Thanks for having us!
