Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe Japanese style rooms were fantastic, and exceeded the expectations we had. The dinner meals were truly mind blowing and great. I had some of the best food of my life during those dinners. The location was close to most attractions and things we wanted to do.

AustraliaThere were so many Chinese tourists. It's obviously a very touristy destination.
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is a little old, but still very comfortable. Our room was very spacious. We loved our two dinners and breakfasts. The food was delicious. We booked a private bath for an hour each night - there are 3 to choose from. They were a highlight. You need to book these well in advance.

MalaysiaThe hotel does not offer porter service. If you are coming with a lot of luggages, you will need to carry all of them up to your room on your own.

SingaporeThe 3rd public bath ( located in another connected hotel) is quite far and gets crowded. The top level public bath has clear windows (can people see in? I dont know) Rooms are warm at night (cos winter so the AC is off... Very difficult to sleep cos it's stuffy)
Location is very close to the night Illumination. There are 3 free hotspring areas. the 2nd level public bath is the best. Dinner and breakfast are very very very good! Please note that there are different grades for dinner (that's why there are price difference for different combo)

SingaporeMuch as we loved the Japanese-style room, for people with rheumatoid arthritis, it is really a challenge getting up and down from the floor. I hope the management will consider changing some rooms to Western-style so more people can enjoy Hanamomiji.
It is strategically located with Gensen Park, hand & foot bath all near round the corner. There are some other attractions just nearby as well. Standing from the (月見橋) bridge when you cross the Toyohira River, you get to see lovely views on both sides. The hotel itself may be a little old but it is very well maintained. Everything works perfectly. It is a huge hotel with many things to entertain you, there is the lounge, the public & private onsen, souvenir shop, massage, games room, & etc. We were early and we left our luggages and headed straight out to explore. The front staffs are quite senior and know their work very well & very patient to explain things to you even though they speak Japanese and we speak English. Have no worries, the front desk staffs all have a translation device so you will do fine. They are very helpful and will help you book a taxi which saved us from having to explain where and what we want with the taxi driver. We fell in love with the charming lattice door outside your room door. The corridor leading to your room feels like an apartment and not a hotel. Having never stayed in a Japanese-styled room, I find the room is very good considering that it is only 17sq m. The room itself contains a little foyer, a separate toilet, a separate dressing area, a separate bathroom, a living cum bedroom and a balcony to enjoy the beautiful lake view from your room. There is a light snack to welcome you at the lobby and your room as well. Must try the snack, it's mainly sweet potato & red bean in a small bun if I recall correctly. It goes very well with tea. The hotel is very consider to have a air filter in every room, this is very re-assuring especially we are still having covid. Dinner was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Each dish is explained to you when they serve but of course we had no idea what they were saying. We just smile and said arigato and enjoy the wonderful spread of food.

South AfricaThe rooms and facilities were a little dated (this is part of the charm though)
The Kaiseki dinner was amazing definitely worth doing! Breakfast was also great with plenty of western and Japanese options. The onsen was great and loved being able to try different baths. Lots of small and thoughtful touches made the stay nice. We booked a private bath which was well worth it.

ThailandAt first, we thought that the onsen would be more spacious with better view, they were smaller than what we have expected and there is not much view from the onsen.
We love our stay ay Hanamomiji. The hotel is in a good location that we could walk to city attractions. Staffs were all friendly and helpful. They helped us book the our dinner on the day of check-out. Our rooms were enormous and well equipped. They were clean and organized. Our kaiseki (Dinner) was superb. It was well presented and delicious. Breakfast buffet was also pleasing with both Japanese and western dishes.

SingaporeHotel could have informed us that their shuttle bus service is back on. When I emailed months in advance of my reservation, they said the shuttle bus service to Sapporo station was suspended so I booked the Kappa Liner. But on the day of check out, I saw the shuttle bus service provided to other hotel guests.
Clean and spacious tatami rooms. Variety of amenities available at both 2F and 12F onsen. Great breakfast spread. Situated near parks and photo spots of Jozankei

IndonesiaWe arrived at 2.30 pm. Check in time is sharply 3.00 pm. We have to wait awkwardly in the lounge. Not clear whether we were entitled to access the coffee machine or the afternoon snack. Nobody explained. Maybe due to language barrier or the hotel rule, the check-in staff was like a goverment officer rather than a hotel receptionist. If there is no flexibility in time, it might have been nicer if the front office staff offered us to enjoy the free afternoon snack while waiting.
A well managed establishment. Good facilites. Nice lounges (reading, sitting lounges offering drink and snack). Two onsen facilities. A good Kaiseki dinner. A surprise dessert was sent to the room.
