Bed was like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Literally it hurt my ribs and my back. They have to change the mattresses. I actually considered sleeping on the floor it was that bad. Not the best location . A bit far from things. But Nijo Castle right on your door step. 😊

Very clean room. Pleasant staff. Free hot drinks. Nijo Castle on your door step.

This is me nitpicking but the pillows could have been softer. The price was also pretty high but then again this was Golden week and most properties were going for almost 3 times what would be their normal cost. Apart from that I don't have any complaints.

Great location as it was right next to Nijo castle. The property was extremely clean and well maintained. The addition of a well stocked Manga library was a great bonus.

Breakfast a bit repetitive/ limited in options, smelly filters on vacuum cleaners while housekeeping was cleaning rooms

Nice location close to castle, friendly staff, vending machine and smoking room in hotel lobby, tourist friendly

The shower was not designed properly. Every time we used the shower, the water would flow on the seam of the shower and spill out onto the floor.

A very bougie and affordable hotel! Staff was so sweet and welcoming, lots of free toiletries, plus free coffee, matcha, and tea.

great location, you had to walk a little to get to the subway, but the bus stops weren't that far. the room was a litte small, but still everything was nice and the staff really kind.

I wanted to hire a bike for a few days, but they said they had nowhere to store it on a night.

The hotel is slightly out from the main train station, but it is close to a few tourist sites. The manga comic collection is extensive and impressive. The rooms are typically Japanese. Compact, but clean and well designed. The breakfast is a Japanese style breakfast with rices and pickled and fermented food.

You might want to skip the breakfast - it is super traditional and the same every day. The coffee is bad, the bento-breakfast is rice, tofu, a piece of mackerel, one meat-ball and some Japanese pickles. Also if you have big suitcases you will be able to keep them only in the space between beds - the room is really small.

The hotel is close to the metro station and to the center (we walked almost everywhere).

The room was a little on the small side but it had everything I needed. Also the walls are quite thin, having the room closest to the lift meant that you could hear everyone coming in and out.

The hotel presented well from both outside and inside. It was a short walk from the station. They provide an array of amenities but they're in the lobby, so you have to take them to your room. The comic books are in great condition and there were many English ones available. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful.

Loved this place. From the staff, to the decor, to my room and the location. The breakfast bento box was super cute and the refreshment station that’s always open has an awesome tea selection, including coffee and matcha.

The breakfast is actually a bento already pre-made. You can’t choose what you eat and everyday it’s the same. I didn’t like it at all

Very clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great manga collection, even mangas in English. Vending machines and laundry available.

Unfortunately the bed was horrible. It was rock hard. I love a firm mattress but this was unbelievably uncomfortable. I did mention this to staff and they gave me more pillows and a blanket which was good. I ended up folding the blanket up to sleep on top of to try and get at least some cushioning which helped slightly. Although my body was left aching after 4 nights here. If it wasn't for the bed the stay would have been perfect! I stayed in a single room. Possibly different beds in doubles?

Hotel and room was great. Everything I needed in my room and also relatively quiet despite being on a main road. Staff were incredibly nice and patient with my little Japanese.

    Beautiful Hotel in Kyoto

The breakfast is a good Bento style but a little repetitive if you stay many days. They could have more Mangas in English

The hotel is close to a metro station, buses pass in front and 15 minutes walking there is the Nijo JR station. It is well connected despite not being in Kyoto center. The staff was very friendly and checkin was easy. You can borrow books to read in the room. The room was small but with enough space to open the suitcase and with a table and a sofa to have tea. The bathroom was good and clean. The neighborhood is very quiet at night and there are few restaurants but on the corner there is a Lawson and a 7eleven.

breakfast was monotonous (5 days). after checking out at 11 am I spent another half an hour in the lobby and started reading one of the books on display but was politely told after 15 minutes that the books were only available for guests and I had already checked out. I understand that they may be considered amenities, but this seemed a bit too strict a policy...

Good-size room for Kyoto, adequate bathroom, cleanliness and service are very good - as expected in Japan

Extremely hard mattress. I like firm mattresses but this was next level! Very small room, hard to have an open suitcase anywhere. Bus stops are the closest mode of transport to the hotel but I find are the most unpleasant form of transport in Kyoto. Better off walking a bit further to the subway station outside Nijo castle.

Close to bus stops and Nijo castle. Lots of free toiletries you can help yourself to and modern room.

Breakfast is japanese, no other options, similar every day. Rotating menues would be better especially for multi-night stays. Noise from the Main Street is quite loud in the rooms facing the street. Bed is hard as rock.

    It was clean.

There is an arcade close by with some great food options but most places close by 7 so not many late night dining options. Would be tough for 2 people in my room with a single bed but it was fine for 1 person.

Decent size room for the money. Cafe with free tea and coffee available to guests all day! My room had an amazing view and really joyed making my tea in the room with the provided kettle and looking out at the mountains to start each day. House keeping staff came in and tidied up each morning without requesting it which was a nice touch. Convenience store next door. Bus stop right out the front door.

They only have 1 lift so be prepared to wait a little bit to get to your floor. The beds are very firm.

Room looks like the photo. Bathroom creatively compact but the shower can hold temp. Room will fit 2 comfortably, walkway may get a bit cluttered. Split system is very nice, the blackout blinds work super well too. They have daily cleaning so make sure you put the sign on the door if you don't want that service. Manga library is very nice, you can borrow 10 at a time. Pretty much walking distance to most things in Kyoto main, short train trip to the further out ones.
