Almost nothing!

We were upgraded to a room with a private onsen. The place was clean, staff members were kind, helpful, and very hospitable. Although communication was challenging they tried very hard to answer every question we had, which were many (highly appreciate the guy attending to dinner!) We loved the complimentary roasted green tea and wanted to buy some for souvenir but they didnt sell it. Instead they gave us 5 sachets as souvenir, much appreciated! Would come back if we have a chance.8

It's a great ryokan. I don't really have anything negative to say

The staff was very inviting and friendly. They welcomed us warmly and offered to carry our luggage to our room. The food offered was delicious and our room was spacious. I would recommend visiting this ryokan especially if you plan on visiting yamadera either before or during your stay.

Staff is making a lot of efforts, some of the younger reception staff could be better trained (e.g. when you see us returning home fully sweaty and carrying lots of baby stuff, maybe it is not the right time to ask not urgent questions about when we want breakfast the next day when it’s only 2pm)

There is no vending machine or convenient store around the corner so you need to walk around 10 mins to reach one. So I recommend buying everything you need beforehand because at night, the neighborhood is not really walkable.

Everything about the hotel is beyond my expectation. Hospitality service are first class and all staffs treat their guests with care. The onsens are nice and comfort. The room is great and large. The hotel is well-decorated. The facility and amenities are superb. The view is also relaxing. I arrived at the hotel late and staffs picked me up at the station. Everything was just perfect!

Highly recommended. The staff are standout super efficient, always available and friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and newly refurbished (especially the rooms). The Japanese breakfast was an amazing experience. If we had to do this northwest region again we'd definitely repeat this as our base.

There really wasn't anything we didn't like. If I have to say something then that I was surprised that the soft drinks during dinner had to be ordered and paid extra.

Great rooms. We had both Japanese dinner and breakfast... what a treat!! The staff was wonderful as well. From the women's onsen you can see a cherry tree, and it happened to be in bloom! It was a truly extraordinary experience and worth the money.

Our stay here was impressive, we had the deluxe family room, which was spacious and had a cozy Japanese vibe to it. The hotel staff was amazing and even though I changed our arrival day like 10 times and we arrived so late in the evening, dinner was prepared for us and we had a private traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. can’t recommend this hotel enough.

This place is a wonder. The staff is great, and exceeded my expectations with their service. This hotel has an Onsen, which can be problematic for people with tattoos, but the staff made sure that I can go in and use the Onsen anyways, just had to make sure it was empty beforehand. I would highly recommend staying at this place while visiting Yamagata
