Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CambodiaNothing.
Ideal in every sense - there is nothing remotely comparable in Arita. On every level, an ideal location to stay. If you are interested in ceramics, well, welcome to heaven on earth. Absolutely brilliant. The price might seem a bit high but you get what you pay for - in this case, a five star boutique experience that is unmatched in this part of Kyushu. The perfect host, the perfect space.

CanadaNothing. It was a great stay. Highly recommend
The breakfast and location is exceptional. We were welcomed very warmly by Takeshi. He is an amazing host who is very well traveled! The room was well ventilated and very tastefully decorated. There were a few art pieces and the floral pieces in the room were also very tasteful. The ceramics used in the shop and in the room were also very lovely. Thank you for such a wonderful, clean, and comfortable stay. Keep in mind while you CAN see a washing machine in the room, it is not for guest use. We were also offered cakes and tea during our stay for free. They were very tasty and the breakfast was also very filling and delicious. It made me feel very comfortable and happy. Takeshi also helped us carry our luggage to our room. We are very grateful for his generosity.

ChinaThe quilt, while very comfortable, could be a bit longer. Probably wasn’t using it the right way.
Decent in almost all aspects. Exceptional location, just a few minutes walk to Arita station. Takashi is definitely one of best hosts you can find in town.

It’s a very beautiful traditional property and Takeshi is extremely helpful and friendly. He also owns the cafe and shop connected to the accommodation which is definitely worth browsing as there are many beautiful porcelain pieces.

United StatesEasy access to rail service. Delightful and helpful host. Takeshi speaks some English which I very much appreciated. It is a private upstairs apartment that is Japanese style. It was a wonderful place to return to after a day of adventuring. I felt at home.

NetherlandsThere’s some noise from the cars on the street. Maybe a double glass would help to prevent the noise.
The space it’s beautiful. It’s a traditional Japanese apartment, an actual studio. Great to come back at the end of the day and wind down.

United StatesWe turned the heat off in the sleeping room, which got a little cold late in the night. But the futons kept us cozy!
The room felt like a Japanese farmhouse I lived in years ago, but updated with modern conveniences and well-chosen decor that kept the sense of history but offered a comfortable, roomy space for us to relax.

ArgentinaIlha is a beautiful apartment with everything you need to relax and enjoy the town. Takashi and his father run this lovely place along with the cafe downstairs and the amazing pottery shop next door. He will help you with information, advices and even with his knowledge about Japanese porcelain and pottery. The apartment is spacious, well designed and carefully arranged in a traditional way. There are even delicious and luxury Japanese sweets, coffee and green tea at your disposal. The location is also great, just three blocks away from the station, close to the Kyushu Ceramic Museum and in the same street where all the main resellers and kilns are. We totally recommend Ilha Accommodation for every traveller who visits Arita. Thanks Takashi for everything!
